Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘YouTube Wednesday’ we are going to discuss the new AwesomenessTV show ‘Life’s S.o. R.a.d.’, which centers around YouTube star Lia Marie Johnson (who we’ve previously featured on the blog, you can find the link to that post here YouTube Wednesday: Lia Marie Johnson, The next comedy genius/music star you need to know about | celindareyesblog) and Amanda Steele (aka MakeupbyMandy24). The show follows these two AWESOME youtubers as they help design AwesomenessTV’s ‘s.o. r.a.d.’ line which is now available at Kohl’s. The show is currently available on AwesomenessTV’s YouTube channel (which I’ll link at the bottom of the post), and is definitely a show that all YouTube fans will become addicted too. My favorite part of the show is seeing how these two very different girls were able to combine their styles and create a line that will appeal to all fashion lovers. In the rest of the post, we’ll talk about the show, and also discuss the line a little bit (which I suggest you all check out btw…trust me you’ll LOVE IT!). Also please check out YouTube stars/Island Records recording artists Cimorelli, whose new song ‘That Girl Should Be Me’ is the theme song to ‘Life’s S.o. R.a.d.’ (here’s a link to the official lyric video for the song That Girl Should Be Me Official Lyric Video – Cimorelli – YouTube). So are y’all ready? Let’s start!
Once I saw the ‘s.o. r.a.d.’ collection I instantly fell in love with SO MANY of the pieces. One of my fav pieces has to be the Teal Plaid Ponte Leggings; I absolutely love how these leggings incorporate the plaid trend, and also give you a fun staple piece that you can dress up and down in many different ways. With fall here and winter not far behind, I can definitely see these leggings as a great piece to wear if you’re hanging out at home (watching AwesomenessTV of course!), or hanging out with friends. Another piece that I really love is the Poorboy Ribbed Skimmer Crop Top. I love that the tops come in 6 really beautiful colors that I think will please everyone. Whether your style is edgy, girly, casual, or anything in between, you will want one (or all) of these tops. I also really love that the top is longer than a traditional crop top, which makes it perfect for fall/winter, but is also fitted enough to dress up any outfit. The final piece that I’m going to talk to y’all about is the Grandpa Cardigan. Now I promise that this cardigan will definitely NOT be something that you would find in your grandpa’s closet (but your grandma might steal it from you so be careful). This cardigan comes in three colors that are absolutely PERFECT for the fall/winter seasons. This cardigan also combines a fitted style with a comfortable fabric, which will help you dress up your look but still stay comfy (you gotta love it when beauty isn’t painful). I would definitely suggest that you all check out this AMAZING collection, because I know that you will find something (or lots of things) that you will instantly fall in love with (remember, it’s never too late to start your Christmas list…are you listening Santa?).
I really love this show because you get a cool sneak peek into what it’s Iike to design a clothing line. The show starts by showing a room tour of each girl’s personal bedroom, as they describe why these items help describe their personal styles. The following episodes show Amanda and Lia vintage shopping for ideas about the kinds of patterns and cuts they want for the pieces in the ‘s.o. r.a.d.’ collection, and lastly (at least for the episodes that are posted as of October 7th, 2014), they go through sketches of possible designs and give their input about how the sketches could be even more awesome. I really like that this series not only shows the process that Amanda and Lia went through to make the line, but also has the feel of the YouTube videos that made us fall in love with these girls in the first place. I think that it’s really cool that the line was designed by two girls that are not only fun and fashion forward, but also have very different styles. One of the things that made this line so cool to me is the diversity within it. Honestly there is something for EVERYONE, so no matter what your style is; you will still look so rad!

Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘YouTube Wednesday’ we are going to discuss Seventeen Magazine’s newest issue. What makes this particular month so special? Because it’s the magazine’s first ‘YouTube Edition’!!! Yes, our favorite YouTubers are coming off screen to take center stage in one of the most popular magazines among pre-teens, teenagers, and young adults. I feel that this is an extremely smart move for Seventeen Magazine to take, because their audience is the same as the audience that the YouTubers featured in the magazine have. I definitely see other popular magazines following this lead, which means that we will get to see a lot more of our fav YouTube stars on our fav magazines (yay)! Now, I promise that I will try not to ruin the magazine by giving away to many details, for any of you who haven’t bought/read it in the store yet (no of course we don’t do that…why would we…moving on). Ok, let’s dive in!
First off, let’s discuss some of our fav stars that are included in the magazine. I was really excited to see that Shane Dawson did an advice segment in the magazine, because honestly you know that his advice is going to be blunt, helpful, and VERY hilarious. I think that he was the perfect choice for this column, because he has always given serious (and not so serious) advice on his channel. There were also segments that included Joey Graceffa, Tyler Oakley, Zoella, Marcus Butler, and MANY more. I also liked that the magazine features up and coming YouTubers who are ones to watch out for (and they may also appear on the blog, so stay tuned!). Although a lot of really great YouTubers were featured in the magazine, we have to spend some time talking about the cover star, Bethany Mota (you can find a blog post about her here YouTube Wednesday: Bethany Mota, the beauty guru who proved that positivity is always in style | celindareyesblog). In the interview that Seventeen did with Bethany covered topics such as: what it’s like to grow up on YouTube, how she’s dealt with bullying, the importance of finding and pursuing something that you love, and how to succeed in anything you do (I mean obviously Bethany is winning at life, so I am definitely taking her advice).
I don’t know about you, but I will definitely be rereading this edition of Seventeen over and over again (I’ve already taken a look at it, and it is AMAZING… just in case you didn’t know). With the partnership of popular YouTube channels with major TV Networks: AwesomnessTV, and TheFineBros ( who both partnered with Nickelodeon), Epic Meal Time (who partnered with FYI, which is a new TV channel related to A&E), and all of the YouTube/other internet themed categories that were included in this year’s broadcast of the Teen Choice Awards this has been a BIG year for YouTube, and the internet in general (even though some YouTube categories have been included before, I think that this is the first year that any winners were announced on-air…btw you can find a recap of the show here Monday Memos: 2014 Teen Choice Awards Recap!!! | celindareyesblog). Other YouTubers such as Tyler Oakley and iJustine have also done hosting, and correspondence work for numerous entertainment news shows. Additionally, popular YouTubers Shane Dawson, Zoella, and PointlessBlog have/are releasing books, and Shane Dawson also runs a popular podcast, and is in the process of releasing a movie and a TV show in the future. Also, ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ author John Green (you can find a review of the book & movie here: Monday Memos: The Fault In Our Stars…a star crossed love story with no faults | celindareyesblog) also initially gained fame as a popular YouTuber and one of the founders of VidCon (a popular YouTube convention where fans can meet their favorite online stars). Honestly the list goes on and on, but in short…the internet and its’ stars are quickly taking over the entertainment business that extends offline. I am really excited to see how the entertainment industry will change, as a new generation of stars are continued to be ushered in.
Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘YouTube Wednesday’ we are going to talk about an actress who is making a HUGE name for herself on multiple YouTube platforms. If you’ve seen the TBS hit ‘Are We There Yet?’, or various other hit TV shows, then you will know exactly who I’m talking about, but just in case…it’s Teala Dunn. At the very young age of 17, Teala has had a career that has spanned more than 10 years, and is now adding YouTube star to her detailed resume. With appearances on the hit YouTube channel ‘AwesomnessTV’, as well as maintaining her own highly successful channels, Teala is taking over the industry, and is definitely one to watch. So, if you want to know more about this talented girl, then read on! Oh go on, you know you want to!!!
Teala began her professional career in 2002 with a guest starring role on the TV mega hit ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’. She then had a 3 year stint as the character of ‘Tuck’ on the popular NickJr. (a branch of the Nickelodeon network) animated show ‘WonderPets!’). During her time on the show, Teala also had roles in the films ‘Phoebe in Wonderland’ and ‘Enchanted’, as well as the highly popular Nickelodeon show ‘The Naked Brothers Band’, and the dramedy ‘Queens Supreme’. After ‘WonderPets!’ ended, Teala went on to co-star on the popular TBS sitcom ‘Are We There Yet?’. Once ‘Are We There Yet’ wrapped, Teala had guest starring roles on the hit Disney Channel shows ‘Shake It Up’, ‘Dog With A Blog’, and the CBS sitcom ‘The Crazy Ones’, among others (so basically Teala’s been working steadily in TV and Film since 2005…yeah that’s impressive!).
On August 17th, 2010 Teala uploaded her first video on her channel ‘Tealaxx2’. The video was a makeup tutorial for middle/high school aged girls (Back to school makeup look. For (high school and middle school) – YouTube). I really enjoyed this tutorial, because it was informative, and Teala showed her ease in front of a camera. I also really liked that the majority of the products that Teala used were drugstore products, and thus easy for most middle/high school girls to buy. I thought that the look was perfect for school, the summer time, or if you just want a very natural look. The next video that we’re going to discuss is Teala’s ‘Makeup Collection’ video (Makeup Collection 2013 ? – YouTube). I found this video perfect for anyone who loves makeup, or is new to makeup and wants some suggestions. I loved how organize Teala is with her makeup, and if you have a large makeup collection, you can definitely get some suggestions from this video. Another aspect of the video that I really liked was the fact that Teala’s makeup collection contains both high end products, and drugstore makeup. I found that this makes Teala’s collection seem more obtainable by her fans. The final video that I am going to talk about in this section is Teala’s ‘Morning Routine’ video (Morning Routine: Spring 2014 PLUS GIVEAWAY!!! – YouTube). I choose this video, because it’s like Twitter come to life! Seriously, you all know that Twitter was invented for us to obsess over what our favorite celebrities do in their day to day lives…that’s what it’s for right? I’m not alone in that right??? Good, I’m glad you all stalk your favorite celebrities on Twitter too…internet high five! Moving on…I really thought that all Teala Dunn fans would enjoy this video, because you get to see a few more products that Teala uses every day, and at the end of the video you can enter a contest and get free stuff (I think the contest might be closed by now, but Teala does a lot of contests and giveaways, so I would look out for them)!
Along with her ‘Tealaxx2’ channel, Teala also has another channel (TTYLTEALA) where she occasionally vlogs, does behind the scenes videos, and so much more. The video I choose to profile from this channel was the behind the scenes video Teala did on the set of the ‘AwesomnessTV’ show ‘IMO’ Awesomeness. – YouTube (which stands for In My Opinion). In this video, you get to see all of the fun and craziness that happens on a set, and you also get small glimpses of other famous YouTubers that I have profiled, such as Meaghan Dowling, and Bethany Mota. I thought that this video was really fun to watch, and allowed Teala to really show her personality. Speaking of ‘AwesomnessTV’, if you didn’t already know, you can catch Teala on a few of the shows on ‘AwesomnessTV’, such as: ‘IMO’, ‘How To Be A YouTube Star’ (in this first episode of the series, you can learn how to make a vlog How To Make a Vlog with Teala Dunn – How To Be A YouTube Star Ep. 1) , and a number of the skits on the channel (such as this one that lets you know whether or not you are addicted to YouTube…based off of the title of this blog post, you can tell that I am Addicted to YouTube with Teala Dunn & Meg Deangelis)
So as you can see, Teala Dunn can pretty much succeed on whatever media of entertainment she chooses. I think that Teala has proven that she is not only a talented individual, but also a very smart business woman, due to the fact that she has taken advantage of traditional media (TV and Film), as well as the new media outlet YouTube, to advance her career. With brains, talented, and an ever growing fan base, it is VERY safe to bet that Teala Dunn will be around for YEARS to come (and we wouldn’t want it any other way).

Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘YouTube Wednesday’, we are going to discuss a YouTuber that you ALL should be familiar with (and if you aren’t, you will now…your welcome!). This YouTuber is a vlogger, beauty/fashion/health guru, and an all around phenomenal businesswoman. In 4 short years, she obtained 2,563,049 subscribers on YouTube, 856,266 followers on Instagram, and 216,000 ‘likes’ on Facebook, and 545,400 followers in Twitter (yeah just reading that makes me tired). Of course we are speaking of the one and only Missglamorazzi, aka Ingrid Nilsen. So if you have no idea who Ingrid is or if you’ve been a fan of her for years, please read on to find out just why everyone is in love with this internet genius.
Ingrid uploaded her first YouTube video on November 7th, 2009. The video was a guide on how to create a “sophisticated red lip look” How To: Flawless Red Lips. Although Ingrid has certainly gained more confidence as she’s continued to upload videos, I was very impressed by how well she handles herself in this first video. In the video, she is friendly, comfortable in front of the camera and is very knowledgeable about the look she is trying to achieve. In this video, you can definitely see Ingrid’s raw talent as a vlogger, and it is obvious that she has the potential to because a HUGE presence on YouTube (which she does of course). The next video that we’re going to discuss is Ingrid’s ‘Summer Foundation Routine’ Summer Foundation Routine – YouTube. I really love that once again Ingrid is very thorough in regard to her process, and the products/brushes she uses. Another aspect of the video that I really love is how Ingrid explains why you should use certain products, due to their health benefits or the product’s quality. All of this information, along with Ingrid’s trademark bubbly and fun attitude, makes the video fun to watch and a great teaching tool (so if you watch this video while you “should be” doing homework, you can just say that you’re learning important information…yes makeup is very serious business). Next up, we have Ingrid’s Pretty Little Liars Nail Tutorial Pretty Little Liars Tutorial – Hanna’s Leopard Nails – YouTube (this is a really cool one so you should DEFINTELY check out this one!). The look alternates between red and leopard print nails, and was inspired from the character ‘Hannah’ from the hit ABC Family show ‘Pretty Little Liars’. Again, I love how Ingrid performs the tutorial step by step, and thoroughly explains exactly how to apply each product she uses, and gives an opinion about how long the look may last. This video definitely inspired me to try the look, and I recommend that all of you do too! Now, even though there are A LOT if videos that deserve to be written about, I have chosen one more for this blog post. The finial video on Ingrid’s main channel that we are going to discuss is her ‘Easy & Healthy Spring Recipes!’ video, which is a part of her ‘#HungryHealthyHappy’ series. In this video, Ingrid runs through 3 spring time recipes, which will keep you healthy and full. The recipes all seem very creative and healthy, which is perfect for anyone who is trying to tone up for the summer. I think that this series is a really interesting change of pace for Ingrid’s channel, and will establish her as a health guru ( as if she didn’t already have enough things that she was AMAZING at). Although these are all of the videos that I am going to discuss with y’all today, I HIHGLY suggest that you check out the rest of the videos on Ingrid’s page, because they’re all fun and informative.
In addition to her main channel ‘Missglamorazzi’, Ingrid also has a second channel completely devoted to vlogs, tag videos, and other videos that are not beauty/fashion/health/etc. related, entitled ‘TheGridMonster’ . She uploaded her first video (which was a vlog where she ate baby food…yes you heard that right) on June 8th, 2010. The video was really funny and entertaining, especially all of the hilarious faces that Ingrid made when she tried the various baby food items. I really thought that this video was a fun way to introduce Ingrid’s second channel. Along with maintaining both of her channels, Ingrid also hosted the second season of ‘Make Me Over’ (which is a show in which regular people send in videos discussing why they deserve and/or need a makeover) on the popular YouTube channel AwesomenessTV (here’s a link to the first video of Ingrid’s season MissGlamorazzi: Punk Chic Makeover – Make Me Over 2.0 – Ep. 1…on this episode she helps a girl find a new cool punk rock style!).
So as you can see, Ingrid has definitely built an impressive brand for herself. Her bubbly attitude, warm demeanor, and impressive knowledge had allowed her to form a close relationship with her fans, which makes her seem less like a stranger on the internet (you know “stranger danger” and all that), and more like a big sister/BFF. I DEFINITELY see a long and successful career for Ingrid in the future (duh!), and I can’t wait to see how her brand expands into different business ventures (such as Bethany Mota and Michelle Phan have done).
Stay updated with Ingrid!!!:

Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘YouTube Wednesday’, we will discuss an AMAZING vlogger/dancer/singer who is on the brink of becoming your newest obsession. Who am I talking about? Well does the name JeffreyFever (Jeffrey Chang) ring any bells? If it doesn’t then it should! Not only are Jeffrey’s videos witty, creative, and fun, but he also occasionally has appearances by his very funny father. With a growing fanbase, and the talent to continue growing, I would definitely take this time to become familiar with Jeffrey’s work. So without further ado, let’s get started!!!
Jeffrey posted his first video (which was cleverly titled ‘My First Video’) on July 28th, 2011 My First Video). I really like this video because it is humorous, and perfectly introduces you to Jeffrey’s comedic style and personality. Jeffrey makes jokes about the hate and discrimination that he will ultimately face through his online presence, as well his family’s inability to stay quiet when he begins to film (what his mom does after he says that he’s going to start filming is one of my favorite parts). Another video that Jeffrey did that I really enjoyed was his video for Ellen’s Dance Dare competition ELLEN’S DANCE DARE – JEFFREYFEVER (which helped make the finals and was uploaded on February 22nd, 20I2 ). I really enjoyed watching this video because it was not only hilarious, but also showed off Jeffrey’s impressive dance skills. In the video you can see him showing off impressive ballet and hip-hop moves on the unsuspecting strangers involved (and it was AMAZING!). The next video I’m going to discuss is Jeffrey’s ‘Why Valentine’s Day Sucks’ video Why VALENTINE’S DAY Sucks (it was uploaded on . I really like that this video explores why Valentine’s Day sucks for both single people, and people in relationships. Topics such as: the difficulty of picking out the “right” gift, being reminded that you’re alone, and more are discussed (so the moral of the story is that this day sucks for everyone no matter what your relationship status’ is on Facebook…yay???). The final video we are going to talk about is Jeffrey’s ‘Dad Disapproves my Career’ video Dad Disapproves my Career – YouTube (it was uploaded on ). This is another one of my favorite videos, because Jeffrey’s dad makes a guest appearance, and he is equally as hilarious as Jeffrey. In the video Jeffrey discusses how his parents are much more supportive of his YouTube career, and Jeffrey’s dad talks about how Jeffrey REALLY needs the support, and his (Jeffrey’s dad’s) former Hollywood ambitious! In this video you really see where Jeffrey got his unique sense of humor.
Jeffrey has proven through his videos that he is an exceptionally funny and creative guy who will go far in his career on and off of YouTube. Since beginning his YouTube channel, he has grown a fanbase that includes: 36,565 subscribers in YouTube (with 1,166,309 total channel views), 13,400 followers on Twitter, 8,199 ‘likes’ on Facebook, 6,500 followers on Instagram, and appearances on ‘The Ellen Degeneres Show’, YouTube channel ‘AwesomnessTV’, and ‘Canada’s Got Talent’. With such diverse talent, a fun personality, and an ever growing fanbase, I think it’s safe to assume that if you aren’t obsessed with Jeffery’s channel, you soon will be.

Hello people of the internet! How are you doing today? If the answer is good, then I have good news for you…if the answer is bad, then I have better news for you. What is this amazing, life-changing news? Well it’s time for another ‘YouTube Wednesday’ blog of course! What makes this blog extra special is that our subject today is YouTube beauty/fashion guru Bethany Mota!!! If you don’t know why Bethany makes this blog extra special, then you definitely need to continue reading. Bethany is not only a YouTube superstar, but she is also a fashion designer, and has an insanely large following on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. At this point if you’re thinking. “Well I’m not really in to fashion, beauty, etc., so why should I keep reading?” well I will tell you why. Besides the fact that you love reading these blogs, Bethany is also an extremely funny girl, whose positivity and natural charisma on camera has caused her fans to fall deeper and deeper in love with her. So if you want to join the Motavator family (a nickname that Bethany has given her supporters), then keep reading and fall under the spell of Bethany Mota.
Bethany Noel Mota was born on November 7th, 1995 in California. She has 1 sibling named Britney Mota Wiley , who is also a beauty/style guru on YouTube (here’s her channel Briddy Nicole). Bethany has stated in her ‘Draw My Life’ video, that she was extremely shy as a child, and was also a tomboy growing up. She has also revealed that she dealt with extreme cyberbullying in middle school, which caused her to have anxiety attacks and become very depressed. In order to get out of her depression, Bethany began watching YouTube videos (you know where this is heading), and soon discovered the ‘Beauty Community” on YouTube. Bethany was entranced by the videos, and began to grow an interest in makeup and beauty. On June 12th, 2009 Bethany uploaded her first YouTube video (Yay!!!), which was a Mac and Sephora makeup haul (here’s the link First Video 🙂 Mac and Sephora Haul.)! Bethany continued to regularly upload videos, and quickly became a top beauty guru on the video sharing website.
Since her YouTube beginnings, Bethany has acquired such a large fanbase, that she has been partnered with YouTube, worked with numerous major corporations and publications, such as; Seventeen Magazine, Teen Vogue, and JC Penny. Bethany made her Seventeen Magazine debut in the April 2011 edition, as a ‘Hair Smartie’ (a category in the magazine and on the publication’s website, in which hair gurus demonstrated how to achieve a particular hair style and/or look). Bethany has been featured numerous times on Teen Vogue’s website, and was 1 of 5 YouTubers that JC Penny flew to one of their Texas locations in 2011, with the purpose of making a haul video ( a video in which an individual buys cosmetics, clothing, shoes, etc. from numerous stores, and then films a video where they talk about what they bought, and possibly how they would style the item(s) ), for the chains website. When the “haulers” arrived at the JC Penny, they were given a $1,000 gift card from the store in order to shop in the store’s back to school section, and then make the video (hey it’s a tough job but someone’s gotta do it right!?). Bethany has also appeared on two popular shows (‘IMO’, a teen talk show and ‘Make Me Over’, a make-over show in which Bethany was the 1st season host) on the successful YouTube Channel ‘AwesomnessTV’ (which as of January 23, 2014 has 1,122,140 subscribers and 251,417,929 viewers here’s the link AwesomnessTV).
In November of 2013, Bethany announced that she had teamed up with the popular clothing chain ‘Aéropostale’, to produce Bethany’s first clothing line entitled ‘The Bethany Mota Collection’ (here’s the link for the promo video The Bethany Mota Collection Exclusively at Aéropostale – YouTube) . Bethany and Aéropostale promoted the line’s launch by asking fans to tweet ‘#MoreMota’, for the opportunity to see a few of the line’s designs ahead of the official release date. On December 8th, 2013 the line launched, and Bethany made an appearance at one lucky store location, in order to do a meet-and-greet with fans! Bethany currently has come a long way from the shy, quiet young girl in her first video. In 4 short years, Bethany has acquired 4,899,125 subscribers and 377,896,389 views on YouTube (which is more than famous artists like Lady Gaga, and popular publications such as Vogue and Seventeen Magazine), 1,176,140 Twitter followers, 584,000 “likes” on Facebook, and 2,292,255 on Instagram.
With such a detailed resume at the tender age of 18, Bethany (or Beth/Bethers as she often refers to herself), is definitely on the road for a long fashion career. She was able to successfully build a large, dedicated fanbase using only her passion for fashion, bubbly personality, and video camera, which has become the foundation for a fashion empire for the California teenager. I can definitely see Bethany expanding into cosmetics, beauty accessories, and even trying her hand at acting/hosting, honestly the sky is truly the limit for this rising star. So if you’re not already obsessed with Bethany Mota, you will be after watching any of her captivating video. I would definitely suggest that you become familiar with her, because Bethany Mota is a name that you will be hearing for years to come. I can certainly say that I am proud to be a Motavator, and you will be too!

Hello people of the internet, please allow me for a moment to paint a picture for you. A 16 year old girl receives news one summer from her doctor that she has mono, so she must begin bed rest. Now usually teenagers spend the summer time hanging out with friends, going on trips, swimming, etc.. So what can a 16 year old do during the summer for fun if she’s stuck at home? Well if you ask the girl behind the extremely popular YouTube channel ‘meghanrosette’, you start a career launching YouTube channel.
Meghan Rienks, (whose last name isn’t actually Rosette, the name was created because Meghan’s middle name is Rose) was born on August 4th, 1993 in a city near San Francisco, CA. Meghan has said that she was a “dramatic” child, and officially caught the acting bug after a 3rd grade production of ‘The Wiz’ (where Meghan played a munchkin…o.k. everyone say it with me…awwwww…I’m mean seriously a 3rd grader playing a munchkin, that is just too cute!). Meghan then began taking acting, voice, and dance classes in order to further explore her love of performing. She began experimenting with makeup in the middle school, and continued acting.. Once Meghan entered High School, she soon began performing in numerous school plays. However, Meghan’s most important high school activity would occur the summer before her senior year, when Meghan contracted mono from sharing a soda can with her friend. Although most people would hide in their room and cry over this, Meghan took the advice of her mother, and began a YouTube channel. So, on June 16th, 2010 the channel ‘meghanrosette’ was born, and Meghan’s life was forever changed (Here’s Meghan’s 1st video where she does a fashion haul with one of her friends: Haul with dancer4life34! – YouTube).
On the surface, Meghan’s channel seems like that of any other young guru however, once you watch just a few minutes of any of her 412 videos, you can see that this girl is anything but ordinary. Meghan is not openly knowledgeable about fashion trends, beauty secrets, and everyday life issues, but she also has a charisma and ease on camera that instantly draws you in. She is also extremely witty and goofy, which makes her very relatable, and only adds to her overall charm. I first discovered Meghan a few months ago when I saw her on an episode of the hit show IMO (which stands for In My Opinion), on the super popular AwesomnessTV YouTube channel. On IMO, Meghan is on a rotating panel, where the panelists discuss a wide variety such as; fashion trends, celebrities, relationship/friendship issues, etc. (basically it’s a teen/young adult version of ‘The View’). When I first saw Meghan on IMO, I instantly found her very interesting and funny, and wanted to learn more about her.
After I watched a few of her videos, I could see why she (as of December 10th, 2013) has 535,602 subscribers on her channel. Meghan is not only adored by her large fan base, but has also grabbed the attention of many important fashion and beauty publications. She has been featured in magazines such as Teen Vogue and Seventeen. Meghan has also interviewed celebrities and has done red carpet coverage for Seventeen magazine (here’s a video of Meghan interviewing Ashley Rickards, the star of MTV’s popular show ‘Awkward’: My First Time Tag with Ashley Rickards – YouTube). Along with working on her growing YouTube career, Meghan has also continued acting, and was recently on the hit AwesomnessTV show. She also stars on the YouTube show ‘The Goreys’, as Abigail Gorey (here’s a link to the first episode: Hello Dr. Jacobs – Episode 1 – YouTube). Because of all of these amazing accomplishments that she’s had in such a short time span, I would definitely recommend that EVERYONE keep an eye on Meghan, she will definitely be a huge star soon.
Another reason why I highly recommend Meghan’s channel, is because she is very open and honest with her fans. In her ‘Draw My Life’ video (here’s the link to that video:Draw My Life | MeghanRosette – YouTube), Meghan admitted to having insecurity issues in middle school due to her appearance, and also stated that her elementary school friends shunned her because they were popular and she was not. Meghan has also spoken about the bullying she received from her two best friends in college. She admits that she became anxious, OCD, and suffered a great depression because of what occurred between her and these friends. Although Meghan says that she is in a better mental state now, I think that it was very brave that she decided to reveal some of the struggles she has faced. Her story is truly inspiring, and proves that you can do whatever you set your mind too as long as you follow your dreams and ignore any haters. I think Taylor Swift said it best in her song ‘Ours’, when she states, “People throw rocks at things that shine…”. Due to her bubbly personality, natural charisma, and wit, I certainly see a bright future ahead for Meghan in vlogging and acting. Keep on shinning girl!
Hello people of the internet, today is the first blog entry of my ‘YouTube Wednesdays’ series. Today’s blog talks about Twitter/YouTube star Meaghan Dowling, or as most of you may know her as, the girl behind the popular twitter account Teen Things, and the YouTube show IMO
In today’s world, the way we live day to day is constantly changing. The internet has replaced traditional radio and television, email, Facebook, and Skype have changed person to person communication, even the way celebrities emerge has changed. The internet has become a breeding ground for finding talented, previously unknown people and turning them into superstars (such as Justin Bieber, Austin Mahone, Boyce Avenue, Megan and Liz, etc).
One such case is that of 19 year old Meaghan Dowling from Smithtown, NY. While still in high school, Meaghan began an account called ‘Teen Things’ where she began posting quotes and thoughts relevant to the everyday life of teens. Since Teen Things’ creation in 2010, Meaghan’s Teen Things account has earned 429,579 followers. In June of 2012, Meaghan and various other TV and YouTube stars premiered a teen talk show called IMO (which stands for In My Opinion) on the YouTube channel Awesomeness TV. Awesomeness TV posts new episode of IMO Monday-Friday, and the show discusses various topics near and dear to the hearts of teens such as makeup, relationships, and of course One Direction (yes I will now allow you a moment to scream…ok the moment is over).
Besides working on IMO and Teen Things, Meaghan also maintains a personal YouTube account in which she posts fashion hauls, beauty, tag, and advice videos. Meaghan currently has 25,746 subscribers. Her star quality shines through these videos due to her wit, charm, and overall down to earth nature that make her relatable to everyday girls (plus she often has assistance from her best friend Travis Beck, who is equally as hilarious, check him out at http://twitter.com/TravisBeck). These are just some of the many reasons why Meaghan Dowling is a YouTube star on the rise, and an individual I suggest everyone subscribe to.
