Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘Monday Memos’ we are jumping into fall fashion. This week is the official kickoff for the fall season, so that means that it’s time to bring back all of those fall clothes that we wait all year to wear. This time around I decided to make three categories for the looks. The categories are a girly look, a casual look, and a mixed bag look (which is a combination of the previous two looks with a few other style thrown in). Some of the looks have staple pieces that you can reuse so that means you save money and can buy more clothes (yay!!!). Please let me know what you think, and if I miss any awesome pieces then let me know in the comments below. Ready? Ok, let’s go!!!
Tokyo Darling Sheer Oversized Dolman Sweater from Aeropostale:
Now I know in a lot of places it may till be too hot to wear a sweater, but this sweater is sheer so it’s more lightweight, and it’s easy to transition into winter so I think it’s a good investment piece. Also, the color is a little more lively then the typical fall colors that we see, but it’s not a bright hue so it feels like a fall color.
One of the great things about fall is that it can start to get a little cold, but it’s still warm enough to wear summer/spring pieces. I love pairing a summery fashion skirt with a warmer denim jacket or long-sleeved shirt. It can be a lot of fun to play with accessories and transition these pieces into looks you can wear in the fall. I like this skirt because it’s an easy color and pattern to accessories because it’s not to bright or busy.
Speaking of accessories, I absolutely fell in love with these socks because their comfy, warm, and the little bow on the top is too adorable for words. These socks are perfect to warm up any skirt or dress, and definitely make you feel like fall is in the air.
Tall Lace-Up Combat Boots from Wet Seal:
Ok now we al know that fall is the time where we bring back some of our favorite thing like: Pumpkin Spice Lattes, holidays were we eat way more food than we’ll admit, and tall combat boots! These boots are not only cute, but they will warm up any dress/skirt, and are in a color that I neutral enough, that you can practically wear it with anything.
Chain Event Crossbody Bag from Wet Seal:
I really like this bag because it’s very simple but not boring. White is a great color to add a little something special to any outfit. A crossbody is a really great way to go with a bag, because you don’t have to worry about the bag bothering you as you walk or go through your day so you gotta love accessorizes that cooperate with us.
If you want to look cute but not have to actually try, then a statement tee is perfect because the catchy saying on the shirt can serve as its’ own accessory. Personally I love long sleeved tees for the fall because if it’s hot you can roll your sleeves up to cool down, and if it’s cold then you can leave your sleeves down to warm up (it’s a win for everyone).
Refuge Hi-Waist Super Skinny Colored Jeans from Charlotte Russe:
Ok let’s admit it, skinny jeans are a fall staple, and the perfect way to wear jeans that are comfortable (at least as comfortable as you can be in skinny jeans) while still looking like you didn’t grab the first thing you saw in your closet. I am so in love with these wine colored jeans because the color is beautiful for fall, and colored skinny jeans always add some extra flair to an outfit.
Tribal Print Tassel Tote Bag from Forever 21
Ok now I know that tribal print is usually more of a summer thing, but it’s a piece that most people probably already own, and a bag like this should go with a lot of different looks so it’s easy to accessorize. Bonus points, totes can usually carry a lot of stuff, so if you’re always on the go then you can carry all of life’s necessities with you (yesssss!).
Knit Cuff Faux Leather Combat Boots from Wet Seal:
Ok now I will admit that I’m really obsessed with boots so that’s why there are so many in this lookbook. Now it might still be a little to warm to wear these in a lot of places, but there will be perfect later in the fall/winter season so they’re a good investment (and the faux fur inside means that they will feel AMAZING on your feet!
Mixed Bag Look:
Tokyo Darling Long Sleeve Checkered Woven Tunic from Aeropostale:
With this look, I wanted to find pieces that you could use in multiple ways and a plaid shirt is perfect for that. You can dress it up for a more preppy or girly look, or you can dress it down for a grunge inspired look. This type of shirt can also be used all year so it can easily become a staple piece.
Another staple piece that EVERYONE has are ripped jeans. This isn’t a piece that you can really dress up, but you can either use them to go for a super grunge look, or a more casual look which lets your jeans take center stage without you having to really try. I really like these particular jeans because the splatter on the denim makes the jeans look really cool (just a little side note).
Faux Suede Lace-Up Booties from Wet Seal:
I know I know, none of you are surprised that there are more boots in this lookbook but in my defense…boots are really cute (yeah I know it’s not a great defense). What I like about these particular boots is that they can be used all year long, and they are an easy way to dress up any outfit. Whether you’re wearing a dress or a t-shirt and jeans, these boots ill work their magic.
Oversized Studded Tote Bag from Charlotte Russe:
Now this is a pretty standard type of bag, the color is very neutral so it can be your go to bag, and you can keep everything you need in it. I love the studs because they add just a little edge to a casual outfit, without being to overpowering.
Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘Monday Memos’ we are going to discuss the color of the year. I was really excited when Marsala was chosen as the official 2015 color of the year, so I thought that it would be fun to discuss different ways that you can add this color to your wardrobe so you can rock the color of the year in any season. Remember that you can always add more or less of this color depending on your outfit, however the color is in a deep red wine hue, so it is a little more suited for the fall and winter. Also I tried to find items for y’all that were as close to the hue of Marsala as possible. Ok ready? Let’s get into the fashion!
Winter: Peacoat from monroeandmain.com
I really love this peacoat because it’s cute and definitely looks like it can keep you warm (I mean isn’t it great when you don’t have to sacrifice style for comfort!). It’s the perfect piece to wear over a dress to a special occasion, and will also dress up a casual outfit. Since were not very far into the winter season, this is the PERFECT time to invest in a piece like this.
Spring: Metalshine Liquid Eyeliner from Sephora
I felt that this color would be harder to pull off in the spring because springtime is all about bright, fun colors, so I thought that this eyeliner would be an interesting way to use the color. The spring is the perfect season to experiment with your eyeliner color, so this color could make a rally unique look for parties with family/friends.
Summer: Fringe Cross Body Bag from somethingmadison.com
I really love the idea of incorporating fringe into your summer looks, because it gives off that whole boho, music festival kind of vibe that’s really fun. I love the tribal pattern on the flap of this bag, and the fact that the fringe and the rest of the bag is solid Marsala. This is a really fun bag that will go with just about every summer OOTD (outfit of the day).
Fall: Zoya ‘Pepper’ Nail Polish from artofbeauty.com
I really love a dark lip or nail during the fall (and winter), so I thought that this polish was a good choice. This is also the perfect way for you to try out the color without having to fully commit. Nail polish is also usually pretty inexpensive and easy to find, so you can experiment with the color of the year without having to spend all of your money (because let’s be honest, you HAVE to have to keep your Starbucks budget intact).
All seasons: Skater Skirt from ebay.com
I really loved this skater skirt, and thought that it was another fun way to easily bring the color of the year into your wardrobe. A skater skirt is very easy to dress up or down, and is appropriate and cute for a lot of different situations and occasions, so it’s definitely a staple piece to add to your closet in 2015. This skirt is perfect for spring or summer as it is, and with the addition of tights or leggings could also be added into you fall or winter style.
Hello people of the internet!!! Do you want to look amazing on Valentine’s Day, but you have no idea what to wear!?! I can help you! Check out this gallery, for girly, casual, and edgy/alternative styles.
Red Bandage Dress:
This piece is the first step to achieving a dressy Valentine’s Day look. : I really love this bandage dress for Valentine’s Day because it’s dressy but also not too revealing, so you don’t have to worry about a wardrobe malfunction. This dress is also very flattering to many body types, so you can feel good about yourself wherever you are going. If the temperature is low where you live, you can also add black tights or leggings to the dress.
Red Bow Heels:
I really love these heels because they are a perfect complement to the dress, and they have bows (yes I’m obsessed with bows…but they’re so cute)! You can also substitute the heels for flats if they’re more comfortable/functional for you.
Black Leather Jacket with Fur Rimmed Neck:
Again, this piece is an add-on option if the temperature where you live is low, or will drop as the evening progresses. I really love the fur on this jacket because I feel as if it soften the edgy vibe of the leather.
Heart Shaped Pearl Earrings:
I really like pearl earrings for Valentine’s Day because I feel like they’re classy without being overly flashy. These particular earrings captured my attention because they are in the shape of a heart, which is perfect for the occasion.
Red Bow Clutch:
I really love clutches with dresses because I feel that they are large enough to hold all of your necessities, without being too bulky. This clutch perfectly matched the dress, and the bow matches the bows on the heels.
Red plaid shirt:
A plaid shirt just screams trendy yet casual! I really like this shirt for the casual look, because you can wear it buttoned up, or unbuttoned with a t-shirt underneath. Plaid has been very on trend lately, and it’s an easy way to have a casual alternative to just a plain t-shirt.
Black Skinny Jeans:
I feel like skinny jeans are a stylish yet causal option, and black is also sliming, so your legs will look awesome!
All Red Sneakers:
I LOVE these shoes!!! They are very cool, and sneakers will allow you to have a fun night, without punishing your feet. These shoes are perfect for Valentine’s Day, but they are also great for all seasons, so I think that they are an excellent investment.
Red Bow Headband with Black Polka Dots:
I saw this bow, and just thought that it was soooo cute! I think that this headband is the perfect accessory to add a girly flair to a casual outfit. If it is cold where you live, you can substitute the headband for a black or red beanie.
Red Heart Necklace:
I really love this necklace because it has a red heart, which will add an extra special flair to the look, but it is not overly fancy. I would wear this stone with a long chain, to keep the casual vibe going.
Black Crossbody Fringe Bag:
I really like the fringe on this bag, because it adds a boho vibe to the casual look. I really like crossbody bags with casual looks, because I feel like your outfit determines you mode, and if you’re in a casual, carefree mood, then the last thing you want to do is carry a bag that you have to keep up with. With a crossbody, you can just pack your necessities, put the bag across you, and go.
Red Lace Top:
Want to add a little edge or an alternative flair to you outfit? I think that this top is really cool, and is dressy without looking overly fancy. You can wear a spaghetti strap or strapless shirt underneath, so this shirt stays cute, without being too revealing.
Black Skater Skirt with Suspenders:
I really love this piece because the skater skirt half of it looks fashionable, and the suspenders add a quirky touch. You can tuck in the red lace top, to help the two pieces complement each other.
Red Lace-Up Heels:
Ok, I am in complete awe of this shoes. They are cute, a little edgy, and perfect for numerous different looks. I think these are the kind of shoes that are so versatile, that they are a wardrobe must have.
Black Button Up Cardigan:
This is an optional weather dependent piece, but I think that it complements the outfit perfectly. You can wear this cardigan buttoned up, or unbuttoned.
Red and Black Fedora:
I really love this fedora because it not only goes with the color scheme, but it also adds a cool vibe to the overall outfit, and will definitely help you have a unique look.
Studded Black Bow Chain Purse:
Now we all know that I love bows and studs, so when you put the two together, it’s just magic! This purse is really cool, and is another piece that you can use with numerous looks.
Heart Ear Cuff:
If you’re not a fedora person, then you can pin half of your hair back, and wear a cute ear cuff (remember it is Valentine’s Day, so a heart ear cuff would be the perfect finishing touch).
