What is this amazing, life-changing news? Well it’s time for another ‘YouTube Wednesday’ blog of course! What makes this blog extra special is that our subject today is YouTube beauty/fashion guru Bethany Mota!!! If you don’t know why Bethany makes this blog extra special, then you definitely need to continue reading. Bethany is not only a YouTube superstar, but she is also a fashion designer, and has an insanely large following on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. At this point if you’re thinking. “Well I’m not really in to fashion, beauty, etc., so why should I keep reading?” well I will tell you why. Besides the fact that you love reading these blogs, Bethany is also an extremely funny girl, whose positivity and natural charisma on camera has caused her fans to fall deeper and deeper in love with her. So if you want to join the Motavator family (a nickname that Bethany has given her supporters), then keep reading and fall under the spell of Bethany Mota.
Bethany Noel Mota was born on November 7th, 1995 in California. She has 1 sibling named Britney Mota Wiley , who is also a beauty/style guru on YouTube (here’s her channel Briddy Nicole). Bethany has stated in her ‘Draw My Life’ video, that she was extremely shy as a child, and was also a tomboy growing up. She has also revealed that she dealt with extreme cyberbullying in middle school, which caused her to have anxiety attacks and become very depressed. In order to get out of her depression, Bethany began watching YouTube videos (you know where this is heading), and soon discovered the ‘Beauty Community” on YouTube. Bethany was entranced by the videos, and began to grow an interest in makeup and beauty. On June 12th, 2009 Bethany uploaded her first YouTube video (Yay!!!), which was a Mac and Sephora makeup haul (here’s the link First Video 🙂 Mac and Sephora Haul.)! Bethany continued to regularly upload videos, and quickly became a top beauty guru on the video sharing website.
Since her YouTube beginnings, Bethany has acquired such a large fanbase, that she has been partnered with YouTube, worked with numerous major corporations and publications, such as; Seventeen Magazine, Teen Vogue, and JC Penny. Bethany made her Seventeen Magazine debut in the April 2011 edition, as a ‘Hair Smartie’ (a category in the magazine and on the publication’s website, in which hair gurus demonstrated how to achieve a particular hair style and/or look). Bethany has been featured numerous times on Teen Vogue’s website, and was 1 of 5 YouTubers that JC Penny flew to one of their Texas locations in 2011, with the purpose of making a haul video ( a video in which an individual buys cosmetics, clothing, shoes, etc. from numerous stores, and then films a video where they talk about what they bought, and possibly how they would style the item(s) ), for the chains website. When the “haulers” arrived at the JC Penny, they were given a $1,000 gift card from the store in order to shop in the store’s back to school section, and then make the video (hey it’s a tough job but someone’s gotta do it right!?). Bethany has also appeared on two popular shows (‘IMO’, a teen talk show and ‘Make Me Over’, a make-over show in which Bethany was the 1st season host) on the successful YouTube Channel ‘AwesomnessTV’ (which as of January 23, 2014 has 1,122,140 subscribers and 251,417,929 viewers here’s the link AwesomnessTV).
In November of 2013, Bethany announced that she had teamed up with the popular clothing chain ‘Aéropostale’, to produce Bethany’s first clothing line entitled ‘The Bethany Mota Collection’ (here’s the link for the promo video The Bethany Mota Collection Exclusively at Aéropostale – YouTube) . Bethany and Aéropostale promoted the line’s launch by asking fans to tweet ‘#MoreMota’, for the opportunity to see a few of the line’s designs ahead of the official release date. On December 8th, 2013 the line launched, and Bethany made an appearance at one lucky store location, in order to do a meet-and-greet with fans! Bethany currently has come a long way from the shy, quiet young girl in her first video. In 4 short years, Bethany has acquired 4,899,125 subscribers and 377,896,389 views on YouTube (which is more than famous artists like Lady Gaga, and popular publications such as Vogue and Seventeen Magazine), 1,176,140 Twitter followers, 584,000 “likes” on Facebook, and 2,292,255 on Instagram.
With such a detailed resume at the tender age of 18, Bethany (or Beth/Bethers as she often refers to herself), is definitely on the road for a long fashion career. She was able to successfully build a large, dedicated fanbase using only her passion for fashion, bubbly personality, and video camera, which has become the foundation for a fashion empire for the California teenager. I can definitely see Bethany expanding into cosmetics, beauty accessories, and even trying her hand at acting/hosting, honestly the sky is truly the limit for this rising star. So if you’re not already obsessed with Bethany Mota, you will be after watching any of her captivating video. I would definitely suggest that you become familiar with her, because Bethany Mota is a name that you will be hearing for years to come.
