Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘YouTube Wednesday’ we’re going on a nostalgia train trip. I’m sure by now you’ve all heard about the DuckTales revival (if you haven’t check out my blog post about it here: ). At this point most of us have seen the promo pics and have heard the cast sing the iconic theme song. But now Disney has FINALLY given us the one thing we’ve been craving ever since we first heard about this revival. Are you ready!?! No! It’s not the announcement of a Recess revival (although fingers crossed for that). No, it’s not a Kim Possible revival…stop guessing already! We have finally gotten a DuckTales trailer! Excited! I knew you would be! So if you want to learn all about this AMAZING trailer, then please read on. Ready! Ok, let’s go!!!
The animation is definitely different than what fans of the original series are used to, but if you’re a fan of the the animation on other recent Disney XD shows such as ‘Wander Over Yonder’ or ‘Gravity Falls’ then you’ll love this stylistic choice. Another departure from the original series comes in the form of the voice acting (we’ll sort of). Scrooge McDuck’s nephews Huey(played by Danny Pudi), Dewy (played by Ben Schwartz) and Louie (played by Bobby Moynihan) definitely sound less childlike, and now have very distinct voices. They have also lost the famous Donald Duck lisp which further adds to their unique personalities. Two characters that do sound very similar to their predecessors are LaunchPad McQuack (played by Beck Bennett, most known for his work on Saturday Night Live) & Scrooge McDuck (played by David Tennant, most known for his work as Tenth Doctor on Doctor Who & Barry Crouch Jr in Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire). LaunchPad McQuack sounds very similar to the voice of our childhood & Scrooge sounds so identical it’s scary (and by scary I mean completely AMAZING!!!). We’re also going to get to hear a voice that we’ve heard many times before due to the fact that Donald Duck will be played by Tony Anselmo (who has been Donald’s official voic since 1985). Earlier this month the show was officially renewed by Disney XD for a 2nd season so the channel obviously had high hopes for this reboot. Personally I’m super excited to see what the new cast & crew can bring to this iconic show. What do you think people of the internet? One thing is for sure, whether this show is a hit or miss, it will definitely take us another 27 years to get that theme song out of our heads again (DuckTales! Woo-oo!).
Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘YouTube Wednesday; we are going to continue our Halloween series by talking about one of the most important parts of Halloween (no not the candy, although that is VERY important), we’re going to talk about Halloween costumes! We’re VERY close to October 31st, so if you don’t already have your Halloween costume ready then these videos will help you out. Most of the videos don’t involve too much extra work, except #1 which involves some sewing. So now let’s get to the costumes! Ready? Ok, let’s go!!!
3) The first video that we’re going to talk about is the ’30 Last-minute DIY Halloween Costume Ideas’ by CloeCouture, which was uploaded on October 25th, 2014. I really loved this video because it is such a cool and creative video. Most of the costumes are made up of stuff you can either buy or make easily, and there are so many costumes in the video that I’m sure you’ll find something that you’ll fall in love with. Whether you want your costume this year to look cute, unique, or you want to look like your favorite TV/movie/book character or pop culture figure (for example, Dolly Parton costume), you could find the PERFECT costume for you. Also, the video is EXTREMELY entertaining to watch, so it’s definitely one you don’t want to miss!
2) Next up we have the ‘DIY Last Minute Easy & Cheap Halloween Costume Ideas for Teens’ by Alexa Mae video, which was uploaded on October 16th, 2015. Alexa is a YouTuber that we’ve spoken about before (you can check out that blog post here:YouTube Wednesday: Alexa Mae…the new YouTuber that you will spend your whole spring break obsessing over), and this video just continues to prove what an amazing guru she has become. In this video she shows us how to easily make 3 costumes that will be perfect for anyone who wants a unique/cute look this Halloween. My personal favorite is the popcorn costume, but they’re all AMAZING so definitely check this one out.
1) ‘DIY “THE DRESS”/DRESSGATE HALLOWEEN COSTUME’ by TheSorryGirls, which was uploaded on October 15th, 2015. Ok y’all it’s back, THE DRESS. You know the dress that divided the internet, and haunted our nightmares for weeks, yup that dress. As soon as I saw this video I knew that it had to make the list because this costume is just so amazing. It does require some sewing, but this costume is so worth it. If you want a super unique video that will give your friends a laugh this Halloween then definitely check out this video.
Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘YouTube Wednesday’ we are going to talk about an awesome YouTuber who you just gotta check out! If you love cartoons (and I mean who doesn’t), then you’re gonna become addicted to Brizzy Voices’ amazing impressions. Brizzy (who’s real name is Anna Brisbin according to IMDB) is an extremely skilled voice actress who seems to be able to mimic the voice of just about any character you can think of. I thought that this would be a really fun YouTuber to discuss because Brizzy is not only insanely talented, but also takes the time to show her fun, bubbly personality through her videos. So if you’re already a fan of Brizzy then you know what’s coming, and if you’ve never heard of her then prepare to be amazed. Ready? Let’s go!
The first video that we’re going to talk about is Brizzy’s ‘Voice ALL the original Pokémon!!’ video, which was uploaded on June 26th, 2012 (you can check out the video below). Now if you’ve ever seen Pokémon, then you know that there are a wide variety of voices on the show, that are all very unique. The fact that nearly every 150 voices will really leave you in awe (side note remember when there were only 150 Pokémon instead of 500 thousand billion? Old school stuff right there). I think that this was an equally awesome and courageous video to upload because if you do it right (which Brizzy did) then you will gain A LOT of fans and positive exposure, but if it comes out wrong then you’ll get endlessly trolled on the Internet. This is a video you’ll gonna want to replay over and over. The next video that we’re going to discuss is ‘Disney Princess Impressions’ video, which was uploaded on September 20th, 2012. This is another video that takes a large group of characters with really distinct voices and puts them together in a very cool, very well done video. I liked that Brizzy not only showed that she can imitate lines of dialog from these movies, but also some lines from the popular songs. She is able to match every line very well, and if you close your eyes while listening, you feel like you’re listening to the original actress. I give this video 5 Mickeys (because you know the whole Disney thing….yeah).
Ok this next video is going to be a big kick in the nostalgia, so prepare. We’re going to talk about Brizzy’s ‘Tara Strong Tribute Impressions’ video, which was as uploaded on February 20th, 2015. Confused? Ok, well you may or may not exactly know who Tara Strong is, but I GUAREENTEE that if you were a kid (or a kid at heart) in the 90s and well even now, then you know Tara Strong’s work. With a wide variety of characters such as: Dill Pickles from the ‘Rugrats’, Bubbles from ‘The Powerpuff Girls’, Melody from ‘The Little Mermaid 2’, Timmy Turner & Baby Poof from ‘The Fairly Odd Parents’, Raven from ‘Teen Titans’, and well so many that we would need a few more posts in order to go through them all. Needless to say Tara Strong is a voice acting legend, and it was so cool to see Brizzy do such an amazing tribute to her. As always the voices were perfectly executed, and just further shows how insanely talented Brizzy is. Ok, the final video that we’re going to talk about is Brizzy’s ‘Cartoon Mom Impressions’ video, which was uploaded on May 8th, 2015 (which you can check out below). Although all of Brizzy’s videos are awesome, this is definitely one of her top videos, because mom voices aren’t the easiest for most people to do. Once you really get into the whole video, you see just how difficult and diverse our favorite TV mom voices are, because of the various pitches, accents, and even word phrasing that their voices have. However, Brizzy doesn’t let us down, and continues to prove that not only will she continue to release that we love, but she will also work very meticulously to make videos that are more and more awesome. Gotta love YouTubers who continue to push their boundaries.
Keep up with Brizzy here:
Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘Monday Memos’ I have a cool new interview with Hannah Michaels to show y’all. If you missed the first blog post that Hannah was featured in, you can check it out here: Monday Memos: Hannah Michaels. Also, if you haven’t checked out Hannah’s music video for her new single entitled I’m Not Runnin’, then please check it out below (spoiler alert, it’s AWESOME!). In this interview we’re going to discuss Hannah’s music, influences, where she sees herself in the future, and so much more. I am so excited that we’re all getting the opportunity to get to know Hannah better, because she is definitely a star on the rise! In fact, she is currently working on new music with Steven Solomon, who co-wrote and produced Sabrina Carpenter’s (from the Disney Channel hit show Girl Meets World), new single, We’ll Be The Stars, which was recently released through Disney/Hollywood Records. So if y’all are ready let’s dive into the interview!
Celinda: Hi Hannah. So to start off, how would you describe your sound?
Hannah: Hi. My sound is somewhat pop alternative, but I have a large interest in exploring, shaping, and expanding my sound. I wouldn’t consider it completely categorized or completed yet.
Celinda: So, what/who inspired you to pursue a career in music?
Hannah: I have always been in love with music, but growing up my older brother majorly inspired me, as he is also a very passionate musician.
Celinda: Very cool, so was there a specific moment that you knew that you wanted to become an entertainer?
Hannah: I have always known that I wanted to pursue music, but there have definitely been moments performing for my close friends and writing music that have continued to inspire me.
Celinda: What artists/bands have inspired your music, that might surprise fans?
Hannah: Well, Sara Bareilles, Karen O, Ingrid Michaelson, and Norah Jones are all huge inspirations to me as a writer and a musician.
Celinda: I can definitely see those inspirations in your stylizing. So what was it about I’m Not Runnin, that made you want to release it as your debut single?
Hannah: Jay and Rachel worked on it with me, and they are extremely talented writers. Also, I think that the song is very powerful and a pleasant lighthearted song that I saw a lot of potential in.
Celinda: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Hannah: In 10 years I hope that I will have shaped myself as a musician and as a writer, and that I will be continuing to pursue music.
Celinda: Great! Lastly, do you have anything else to add for your fans who may be reading this interview?
Hannah: Thanks for listening/reading!

Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘Monday Memos’ we are going to discuss the top 5 lies that movies have told us. Now we have seen movies and thought “One day my life will be like that”, and then we grow up and well…it doesn’t happen. But, we still love these movies just the same because everyone needs a little escape right? Right! Also, I just want everyone to know that I actually really love all of the following movies, I just thought that this would be a funny little blog post to make your Monday just a little more enjoyable! So, please read on and let me know what lies movies have told y’all.
5) Lilo and Stitch
This fun cartoon taught us that if you’re different and don’t have any friends, the universe will bring you a friend who happens to be an alien. You’ll go on a crazy adventure with this friend, but in the end all of your problems will be solved and life will be a lot better. I wish that this would actually happen, because who wouldn’t love an alien as a pet right?
4) Mean Girls
Since we’re on the subject of misfits; let’s talk about everyone’s fav movie about the horrors of high school. Mean Girls teaches us that if you’re new, then you should pretend to be friends with the mean/popular girls in school, use their own tactics to backstab them, then actually become the head mean girl. You should then turn on the only “real” friends you actually had in the school, and then some dramatic things will happen where everyone begins to hate you. In the end you just have to say you’re sorry and everything will be fine, and life will be better than ever before. Yeah…unfortunately this usually doesn’t happen.
3) Forrest Gump
Now this movie teaches us that if you happen to always be in the right place at the right time then you will get to meet really famous people and witness historical events. You will then get to go on a lot of amazing adventures, and later become a millionaire. Also, if you hold on long enough to someone who may or may not really be capable of truly loving you, then eventfully they will end up with you…and then they will die. But that’s ok because life is a box of chocolates…right?
2) Harry Potter
This franchise taught us that even if your life sucks, a giant will one day find you and tell you that you are actually a really rich wizard. You will then spend the next few years fighting a psychopath that has been trying to kill you ever since you were born. In the end you will have to kill this crazy person, and lose a lot of really nice people (and one extremely cute elf named Dobby) along the way. In the end you will win, have a lot of really awesome friends, and marry your best friend’s sibling. So…sign me up!
1) High School Musical
Ok, this movie tells us that whether you’re a nerd, a drama queen (or king), a star athlete, or anything in between, you WILL randomly break out in song and dance…a lot! Also, no matter what you are awesome at, you will have a completely opposite talent that you are just as awesome at. But, the biggest lie that this movie taught us, is that if you go to high school like you’re suppose too, then you will get Zac Efron…there was no Zac Efrons at my high school (biggest disappointment ever!). Also there are no epic song and dance number at most high school graduations…don’t you just feel cheated (we were NOT all in this together).
Hello people of the internet!!! I thought that since it’s back to school time, we should dedicate this week’s ‘Monday Memos’ to that time of the year that we all dread. But, instead of listing the many reasons why you don’t want school to start again, we are going to discuss the 5 reasons why you SHOULD be looking forward to school this year. Now I want to tell y’all ahead of time that this blog is meant to be funny, and you should definitely NOT do a lot of the things I will be suggesting. As much as we may not like it, we actually do have to try heard at school, because if you have no education then you won’t have a job, then who is going to buy your pizza and pay for your Netflix subscription. Exactly! Ok, let’s dive into the list.
Let’s face it; there are not enough hours in the day to get everything done right? I mean you have Twitter stalker, Instagram stalking, Facebook stalking, watching YouTube, reading http://celindareyesblog.com/ (hint, hint), eating. So basically since your day is so booked, how are you expected to get the recommended 8 hours of sleep every day. Well let’s use our brain and think about it. Ready? Ok, School is 8 hours; the recommended amount of sleep you’re suppose to get daily is 8 hours…coincidence? I think not! Just make sure that you don’t sleep through lunch, and have someone to warn you when the bell rings.
4) People Watching
We all know that it’s easy to Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram stalk someone (and you know you have), but one wrong move and you end up liking a picture or post from months ago (so embarrassing…at least that’s what I’ve heard…ok, moving on). Anyway, people watching is a much safer hobby, because you can admire that special someone from afar, and not be in danger of embarrassing yourself. See everybody wins! And who knows, maybe one day you’ll even talk to them…yeah maybe not, but that works too.
Now these are usually the only classes in school that we can actually stand. Whether you like music, art, gym, or anything in between, electives can usually be a lot of fun. Of course there are those teachers that actually take these classes seriously (c’mon we take Art class to pretend like we’re not in school, not to draw fruit 100 times). Instead of electives, can’t we just have free time to watch YouTube or listen to the radio (btw, I HIGHLY suggest that you check out 103.7 KVIL, they are AMAZING!).
Now y’all know we had to discuss fashion. Honestly how many times have you spent days or even weeks trying to find that perfect 1st day of school (c’mon you know you have…don’t worry we all have). Honestly sometimes the hallways seem more like runways, but if we didn’t take so much time with back to school fashion, then we might actually have to do homework (scary thought right!?!). Luckily school is the perfect place to try out outfit, hair, and makeup looks, so you can perfect them for the days of the week that actually count…the weekends!
No not those friends
Yes you can see your friends during the summer, but with jobs, vacations, “family time” (whether forced or not), and of course your weekly dates with Netflix (Hello seeing Zac Efron and Channing Tatum on demand, yes of course you’re going to make time for that). With so much going on, it’s nice to have 8 hours a day spending time with your friends. I mean classes were intended for texting. Right?
Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s Monday Memos I am going to introduce y’all to an AMAZING new band whose music is so infectious and fun, that you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it. As the summer time rapidly approaches, your playlists definitely need a high energy boost, with music that will serve as the perfect backtrack to all of your favorite summer memories. I’ve always thought that the perfect song, by the perfect band, can make a moment truly unforgettable, and with this band you will definitely have fun summer memories to look back on. Who is this band? Well listen close, because you WILL be hearing this band’s name in the future. People of the internet, please allow me to introduce you to Animal Fiction!!! Now please read on to learn about why you will quickly become obsessed with this phenomenal new band.
Animal Fiction is a three piece indie pop band from Los Angeles, CA that consists of Eben Wares, Julian Walker, and Cameron Walker. Cameron Walker should be particularly recognizable by music lovers, due to his work as a touring member of the alternative pop band ‘The Ready Set’ and the indie band ‘1985’. He has also worked as a songwriter for Showtime, NBC, Nickelodeon, Disney, ESPN, and ABC. On February 18th, 2014, Animal Fiction released their debut self-titled EP. The EP includes 5 AMAZING songs that are upbeat and perfect summer tracks (think Foster the People meets Vampire Weekend). The subjects of the tracks talk about subjects like: breaking away from the norm and having an adventure, falling in love, and enjoying the freedom of being young. I really love that these songs are energetic and make you want to dance. Also, the sound of the EP is not only radio friendly (and trust me you will hear this band’s music on the radio VERY soon) but also contains a very unique sound that is instantly recognizable. It’s perfect for the upcoming summer season, and is a MUST on any and all playlists (so go to ITunes and get a copy…well finish reading the rest of the blog and then go…trust me, it’s worth the wait).
Animal Fiction’s newest song ‘Walk In The Sunshine’ (which is not included in their debut EP here’s the link so you can check it out Walk In The Sunshine) is another track that I am really excited about. This song is about having fun, being young, and enjoying life. This track shows that Animal Fiction has truly found their sound, and is becoming comfortable within it. I think that this song really shows a growth for the band, as artists, and their ability to craft and perform songs with catchy lyrics and infectious hooks. It can be very difficult for a band to create a sound that will help them have an immediate impactful debut, but Animal Fiction makes this task seem easy with ‘Walk In The Sunshine’. If this song is any indication of the direction that ‘Animal Fiction’ is heading with their music, then I am very excited for what’s ahead for them. I could easily see this song as a crowd favorite at a concert, and would be excited to see how Animal Fiction would visually show this song in a music video or concert setting. This track definitely solidifies the fact that Animal Fiction is a band to watch, and I think that it’s only a matter of time when everyone is blasting ‘Walk In The Sunshine’, and Animal Fiction’s other songs from their car radios.
So are you excited now?!? You definitely should be! I HIGHLY suggest that you check out Animal Fiction, and keep an ear open for all of the amazing new music they have in store. Whether you’re going on a road trip, hanging out by the pool/beach, or going to an awesome party, this is one band that you will NEED to have on repeat. So what are you waiting for!?! You know you want to check them out! Also, make sure you support Animal Fiction by purchasing their EP, checking out their music video for ‘Everyday is New’ (here’s a link to the AMAZING music video Everyday is New), listening to ‘Walk In The Sunshine’, and staying up to date with the band on all of their social media accounts.
Keep in touch with Animal Fiction!!!

Hello people of the internet, on today’s ‘YouTube Wednesday’, I am going to reintroduce you to an amazing vocalist that I KNOW you are very familiar with (if for some reason you’re not, then you NEED to check her out…after you finish reading this blog, I promise you won’t be disappointed J). This vocalist has had hit singles, has wowed the mentors on the NBC hit singing talent show ‘The Voice’, and has toured all over the world! At just 22 years old, this singer/songwriter has a resume that many seasoned performers would kill for. Who is this amazing vocalist you may ask? None other than the uniquely talented Jordan Pruitt (remember this name folks, because you will continue to hear it for years to come).
Jordan Pruitt was born on May 19, 1991 in Georgia. She began singing at the tender age of 4 with her father’s band in her local church. Jordan continued to perform and perfect her craft, and at the age of 14, she auditioned for Hollywood Records, and received a record deal that very day. Two months later the music video for her debut single, ‘Outside Looking In’ was filmed (the song was also featured in the Disney Channel Original Movie ‘Read it and Weep’, which was released in July of 2006, and the ‘Girl Next’ album, which was released in August of 2006). In October of 2006, Jordan released a cover of the 1979 Sister Sledge classic, ‘We are Family’ for the Disney Movie ‘Air Buddies ‘. In January of 2007, Jordan released the track ‘Jump to the Rhythm’, which was included on the soundtrack of the highly successful Disney Channel Original Movie ‘Jump In’, which starred Keke Palmer (who starred in ‘Akeelah and the Bee’, ‘CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story’, ‘True Jackson VP’, etc.) and Corbin Bleu (who starred in the High School Musical trilogy, ‘Catch that Kid’, ‘Dancing with the Stars’, etc.). In February of 2007, Jordan released her first album ‘No Ordinary Girl’, through Hollywood Records (which as of January 16, 2014 has an ITunes rating of 4 out of 5 stars). The album peaked at #64 on the U.S Billboard Charts and the album’s singles were instantly fan favorites on Radio Disney (a radio station owned by Disney). In April of 2007, Jordan covered ‘When She Loved Me’ (originally performed by Sarah McLachlan for the Disney/Pixar animated hit ‘Toy Story 2’) for the Disneymania5 album. In July of 2007, Jordan released her track ‘Teenager’ (the last single off of her debut album), which was a fan favorite, and was in constant rotation in Radio Disney.
2008 was another HUGE year for Jordan, and presented numerous opportunities, where she was able to demonstrate her unique vocals. In May of 2008, Jordan lent her amazing vocals to the ‘DisneyMania6’ album, with her cover of the song ‘Ever Ever After'(which was made popular by Carrie Underwood for the Disney movie ‘Enchanted’, her version of the song also appeared in the 2008 CD, ‘Princess Mania’). .Jordan released her sophomore album ‘Permission to Fly’ exclusively to the tween clothing store ‘Limited Too’ in July of 2008. The album was later given a wider release, and its’ singles were added to the Radio Disney rotation. The album produced two singles, entitled ‘One Love’ and ‘My Shoes (which were both later performed by Jordan at the 2008 Disney Channel Games). In September of 2008, Jordan’s amazing vocals on her song ‘I Wanna Go Back’ (which was a non-single track off of Jordan’s sophomore album), appeared on the ‘Disney Girlz Rock 2’ album. She also sang a song entitled ‘Take to the Sky’ in September of 2009, for the soundtrack of the Disney movie ‘Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure’. In November of 2008, she sang the song ‘Celebrate Love’, which was included in the ‘Disney Channel Holiday’ album. Her single ‘One Love’ (off of ‘Permission to Fly’), also appeared on the ‘Radio Disney Jams 11’ album, which was released in January of 2009. Jordan also lent her vocals to the son ‘This Christmas’, which was released in October of 2009 on the ‘All Wrapped Up Vol., 2’ CD.
In February of 2011, Jordan parted ways with her label Hollywood Records, and signed with’ Jonas Records’ (a record label established by the popular boy band the ‘Jonas Brothers’). Jordan released her next single ‘Hey Shy Boy’ in November of 2011, and as of January 16, 2014 has an ITunes rating of 5 out of 5 stars. Jordan parted ways with Jonas Records in 2012, and continued to hone her craft. In September 2012, she covered Katy Perry’s mega hit ‘The One That Got Away’ on the “blind auditions” on ‘The Voice’. She chose to become a part of ‘Team Christina’ (which was mentored by superstar Christina Aguilera). Jordan made it to the next round of the competition (which is called the ‘Battle Round’), and sang another Katy Perry hit entitled ‘Hot and Cold’ although Jordan did very well in the battle, she was eliminated after this round. Jordan has made covered videos on YouTube channel since December of 2007. In April of 2013, she released her version of The X Factor UK’s season 6 runner-up Olly Murs’ hit ‘Troublemaker’ to ITunes, (which Jordan performed as a duet with Nickelodeon actor/vocalist Max Schneider).
Jordan has toured all over the world as the opening act of numerous successful acts, as well as on her own. In 2006 she toured with the highly successful group ‘The Cheetah Girls’, and was included on numerous dates on the ‘High School Musical: The Concert ‘in 2006 and 2007. Jordan has also toured with numerous successful acts such as: Corbin Bleu, The Plain White Tees, Drake Bell (who starred in the hit Nickelodeon show ‘The Amanda Show’ and ‘Drake and Josh’), and the Jonas Brothers. In 2008, Jordin was a part of the ‘Tour of Gymnastics Superstars’, and sequentially toured in over 20 states across the continental United States. In 2009, Jordan opened for the Demi Lovato (who has starred in the highly successful Disney franchise ‘Camp Rock’ and the Disney show Sonny with a Chance, is one of the former X Factor U.S. judge, etc.) and David Archuleta (the runner-up of American Idol season 7).

Hello people of the internet!!! With Disney Channel’s announcement of their newest show ‘Girl Meets World’ (a spin-off show of the popular 90s hit ‘Boy Meets World’), I began to think about the “spin-off” trend in television. First in 2003 Nickelodeon premiered its spin-off of the beloved children’s show ‘Rugrats’, which was entitled ‘All Grown Up’ and remained on air until 2008. Then, in 2008 The CW premiered a new version of the 90s teen phenomenon ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’, with a new cast of characters (however some of the actors from the original show guest stared on 90210). So, it’s apparent that “spin-off fever” has become very prevalent in Hollywood over the past few years. I think that this is because we become very emotionally invested in the characters from our favorite TV shows, that we begin to subconsciously think of them as real people, and thus we want to know all about their past and future (oh you know you start thinking of them as real people, don’t pretend like I’m the only one…I thought so). Although many great shows have had spin-offs (and occasionally prequels), I have made a list of 10 shows that I think deserve a chance to live again. If I’ve missed any shows, please let me know in the comments below!
10) Sister Sister
The thing that I always liked about this comedy, was how the characters dealt with real life issues, along with the primary storyline of two twin sisters who meet unexpectedly after being separated at birth. This show catapulted Tia & Tamera Mowry into superstardom, which led them to star in numerous other projects both separately and together. I think that it would be very interesting to see how the characters developed as they grew up, and how they ended up relating to one another as adults.
From 2001-2004, the world was reintroduced to country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, as the kind hearted and wise doctor ‘Clint Cassidy’ on ‘Doc’. On the show, Cyrus’ character dealt with personal, moral, and ethical issues; as well as the common politics found in the professional world. The show was full of complex relationships, interesting twists, and very relatable characters, so I think that it would be really interesting to see where their lives led them.
This show was a HUGE hit for Disney Channel in the early 2000s, and become a very successful franchise which included: clothing, fashion accessories, toys, a movie, and numerous other products, which became very profitable for the Disney Corporation. This show also launched the career of Hilary Duff, and quickly made the young girl a household name. The show ended at the end of the summer, right before the main characters where going to enter high school. The success of this show paved the way for numerous other young actresses to have successful careers in music, fashion, etc.
This long running family drama revolved around the lives of the Camden family. The Camden family was a typical middle class family, who dealt with real life issues and triumphs in the town of Glen Oak, California. The father character on the show Eric Camden, (who was portrayed by Stephen Collins) was a protestant minister, whose large heart often placed him and his family in interesting situations. This show explored various social, economical, and ethical themes, which evolved over the years to keep in tune with our ever changing society. I think that the plot lines and character development were so impressive, that a spin-off of this show would have success for a numerous amount of years, and would grow with a generation the way 7th Heaven did.
This show (which starred comedian/actor George Lopez), showed the reality of a middle-class Hispanic family living in California. As the majority of the shows on this list do, this show explored real-life issues however; it also explored the plight of what working class individuals go through, when they move up the cooperate ladder. Although this show was not extremely popular when it originally aired, its ratings have done extremely well in syndication. I believe that due to how popular the show has become since its original run ended, along with the growing popularity of George Lopez, (due to his involvement with the Disney ‘Beverly Hills Chihuahua’ franchise), that this would be the perfect time for a spin-off to happen. George Lopez now has voice recognition credibility, so even if some people don’t know how he is, they will recognize his voice, and be attracted to the sitcom.
5) Home Improvement
‘Home Improvement’ was a family sitcom, (which starred actor Tim Allen), which revolved around the lives of a man named Tim (who was the host of a home improvement show, where he also sold tools for a fictional tool company called ‘Binford Tools’),his family, his best friend, and his neighbor. Tim was a very cocky man, whose pride often got his family into crazy situations. This sitcom made a large amount of the cast into household names, and led to numerous other projects during, and after the show originally aired. I think that a spin-off of this show would do very well, due to the original team’s excellent casting choices and witty scripts.
This long running situational comedy starred (and was co-created by) comedian Jerry Seinfeld, who portrayed a comedian named Jerry on the show (talk about life imitating art). Jerry had three close friends on the show: George ( his best friend, whose extreme penny pitching ways and jealously of others, often got him into extremely uncomfortable situations), Elaine (his ex-girlfriend who is often too honest for her own good), and Kramer (Jerry’s eccentric neighbor, who often slid through Jerry’s door as his way of entrance, and was very abrasive of Jerry’s personal space). I believe that this show was so popular, because it resonated with the general public due to its dry and subtle humor. This show presented a model of comedy that had not previously been explored, and thus opened a new market in television, that has continued to be used ever since.
This highly acclaimed show, consisted of an ensemble cast, who portrayed 6 friends living in New York City, who dealt with the ups and downs of adult life. The characters had numerous entanglements among each other, which often were the cause of several interesting situations. Ever since the show ended its original run, fans of the show have asked for its return, so I think that it’s easy to see why a spin-off of the show would be a huge success. This show also launched the careers of all of the cast members, although some have had more fruitful careers than others, all 6 members of the cast have had career opportunities because of the show’s popularity. Although this show did have a short lived spin-off, I believe that the show’s continued popularity, would make a second spin-off a profitable investment.
There is no question that this family comedy has had amazing success in syndication, and thus certainly warrants a spin-off. This show revolved around the life of single father Danny Tanner (Bob Saget), who asks for the aid of his best friend (Joey) and brother-in-law (Jesse) , in raising his three daughters, once his wife passes away. Joey and Jesse soon become pseudo fathers to the girls, and continue to become essential members of the family for the shows entire run. This show starred John Stamos and Bob Saget, who were already successful entertainers in their own right, and launched the careers of the various other cast members, most notably, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen (who portrayed the youngest daughter Michelle).
1)The Cosby Show
Now we’ve reached #1 on our list!!! Although many of the other shows mentioned on this list could have easily been #1, I chose this show because of its ability to transcend through the decades, and remain relevant. This sitcom starred famous comedian and all around entertainer Bill Cosby, as a good natured New York doctor named Heathcliff “Cliff” Huxtable, who had a tendency to exaggerate, and tell tall tells. The cast was rounded out with Cliff’s wife Claire (a successful attorney), and his 5 children. The show dealt with more intense and difficult topics as the children on the show grew up however, the show was essentially a family sitcom, so the topics never got too out of control. The Cosby Show has continued to be a syndication success even though it has been two decades since the show went of air. Although this show has already had a spin-off (called ‘A Different World’, which aired form 1987-1993), I believe that the original show has been off air long enough to warrant a second spin-off. Additionally, this new spin-off would be much more successful than A Different World, because it would not be in direct competition with The Cosby Show, like A Different World was.
