Hello people of the Internet!!! On today’s ‘YouTube Wednesday’ blog post, we’re going to discuss an AWESOMEWildMoon  fashion/beauty channel that y’all need in your life. If you watching fun, knowledgeable YouTubers with a unique sense of style, then you’ll love Diana aka ‘WildMoon’. On this channel you’ll really be able to see just how well fashion, beauty, and creativity mix. So now let’s get to the videos. Ready? Ok, let’s go!!!

The first video that we’re going to talk about is the ‘Woodland Wanderer: A Winter Lookbook’, which was uploaded on January 31st, 2015. If you have a more Boho style, but don’t know how to really translate this into the winter season then this is the video for you. In this video we’re really able to get a good sense of the unique fashion that we’ll see from Diana on this channel, so it’s a great video to begin at. Next up we have the ‘Easy Dreamcatcher DIY’ video, which was uploaded on April 26th, 2015 (which you can check out below). I thought that this was such a cool video, because it’s a DIY, but it’s not something that you might typically find on YouTube. It’s really interesting to see YouTubers think outside the box and try to give us unique content. These types of videos definitely keep you on your toes, and will make you become really excited about what this channel has in store for us in the future.

Ok, now we’re going to move on to the ‘How I Edit My Instagram Photos!’, which was uploaded on June 9th, 2015. This is a really good video to check out if you want to take your Instagram pictures to the next level, and really get your Instagram likes up. What’s great about this video, is that Diana really explains why she uses certain apps, and the steps she takes to develop a theme for her photos. If you want to get some awesome tips & tricks, then definitely check this video out. The final video that we’re going to talk about is Diana’s ‘Fall Back to School Clothing Haul 2015’, which was uploaded on August 3rd, 2015 (you can check out the video below). Now you know that we had to talk about a haul before we finished! In this haul we continue to get to see how Diana is developing her on-camera skills, and how her fashion sense is also evolving (we also get to see some really cool clothes…yay!). So if you want to go back to school with outfits that will help you stand out from the crowd, then this is the PERFECT haul for you

These are great looks to practice with now, so when you head back to school you can impress with your crazy hair styling skills. The last video that we’re going to discuss is Ashley’s ‘We’re Not Really Siaters??’ collab video with her sister (who is also an INCREDIBLE YouTuber that y’all should check out) ALISHAMARIE (you an check out the video below). It’s interesting to see videos that show our fav YouTubers hanging out with friends and family just like the rest of us do. Monday Memos: Interview with rising beauty/fashion YouTube star Charlotte Davis

Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘Monday Memos’ I am pleased to bring you an interview I recently had with the incredibly talented rising YouTube star Charlotte Davis. This interview was particularly fun for me, because I had originally written about Charlotte on her birthday in April, and we were now doing an interview the day before my birthday in October. I just thought that this was a really fun fact that y’all would enjoy. Through this interview, I really wanted y’all to get to know Charlotte better, and I definitely think that after reading it you will feel like you’re long lost BFFs. In this interview, you will learn all about why Charlotte decided to join YouTube, who she hopes to collaborate with someday, her other hidden talents and her connection to Daniel Radcliffe (yes Harry Potter, its true). So get ready to learn all about YOUR fav new YouTuber Charlotte Davis.

Celinda: Hi Charlotte! With this interview I really want to get to know you a little bit more, because when I was initially researching information about you, I couldn’t find a lot outside of your videos. So I wanted to get to know you a little better, a little about your back story and such so your viewers can feel like they’re BFFs with Charlotte. So, we often hear about people joining YouTube because of bullying, boredom, or to advance other careers like music, things of that nature, so why did you join YouTube.

Charlotte: I remember that I’ve always loved art, crafts, and making things. It was 2 years ago this Halloween, that I googled how to do some crazy, awesome Halloween makeup. I always thought that YouTube was for music videos and things like that. I really didn’t know about people having channels or anything like that. So I googled Halloween makeup and I came across Emma Pickles. I remember coming across her, and thinking that she’s just so talented. From that I saw the regular makeup videos, and I’ve always had an interest in makeup, but I’ve never felt that I was particularly good at it. I always said to my mom, “I don’t know what I should do”, and my mom would go “well, you’re good at talking”. So I would like to make my channel more chatty, but I guess it’s hard until somebody know you, that they’ll just want to listen to you talk. But watching Emma’s videos is really how I got into YouTube.

Celinda: So I think you already touched on my next question a little bit. My next question was about your interest in fashion and beauty. Were you the little girl growing up who always wanted to be a princess and wear cute sparkly things, or are fashion and beauty an interest you developed later in life?

Charlotte: Yeah I did. I have 3 brothers, so when I was born, my mom was so thankful. She just put me in dresses and I think that she just liked having a little best friend, but I remember loving clip-clops (the little glittery Cinderella like slippers). But from studying art, I always used to draw dresses. When it comes to fashion, I love looking at it, but I’m not really good at designing. But I’ve always taken an interest in trends. I also love shoes, bags, and scarves because they look the same every day, whether you’re having a good day or bad day. That’s why I always buy cool jewelry and accessories (after this when went on for about 10 minutes or so fangirling over YouTubers…it was awesome!).

Celinda: So do you have any specific goals that you hope to achieve through your YouTube channel in the future?

Charlotte: Yes. Ever since I was little, I’ve always wanted to be a television presenter, which is a little funny now because if I were to ever reach that goal, I don’t know if I would want it to be on television, or on YouTube. So I think it goes back to the whole thing of chatting, and listening to other people’s stories, and hearing what they’re about. So I would like to try presenting in some form, or being a part of something.

Celinda: I think you would be really good at that. I could definitely see you on television, YouTube, radio; honestly you could do it all. So I want to move on and talk about your blog site for a second. I was really excited when you launched it, because once I started reading it, your words and phrasing was just so animated that I felt like I felt like I get to travel with you and see the things you see. I particularly loved the post with all the desserts because it made me very hungry (here’s the link guys (Top Edinburgh Bites – Don’t go at all unless you go here . . . |Charlotte Davis Review| | ). So I was wondering if you had any plans to further your writing career, and maybe become an author or something in that realm?

Charlotte: Well, I was never very academic in school and that’s why the arts drew me in. But I’ve never had someone tell me my writing was animated so that’s really cool. I have to say that I’m not a very good reader, it’s definitely something that I’ve neglected, but listening to audible books have made me really interested in listening to stories.

Celinda: Well maybe you could be the next J.K. Rowling and write the next Harry Potter book that we all desperately want.

Charlotte: It’s funny because I actually worked in ‘Harry Potter World’ and there’s a lot of trivia that you miss form the books that people would always ask me about. I remember seeing Daniel Radcliffe from a distance back in the U.K. and all I wanted to scream was “I worked in Harry Potter World” (so according to the ‘6 Degrees of Separation’ theory, Charlotte knows Daniel Radcliffe through working at Harry Potter World, I know him through knowing Charlotte, and you all know him through knowing me…we’re just gonna pretend it counts ok? Ok!).

Celinda: So do you have any other talents outside of beauty. fashion, art, and writing?

Charlotte: I think looking back on it; I always thought that I wasn’t particularly good at art or makeup because you think “well there’s always someone better”. When I was 15 I started working for a florist, and I really developed that skill and now I work as a florist and it’s cool because it’s a skill that I can always go back to.

Celinda: So a little earlier in the interview we were discussing some of the YouTubers that you love (I didn’t include most of this part because we fangirled A LOT and it would have made the interview a lot longer). So I was wondering if there was any YouTuber that you could collaborate with who would it be and why?

Charlotte: I just really Essie Buttons because she’s geeky but also cool, and Bethany Mota looks like she puts so much effort into her videos, it’s just incredible. I also really love Tanya Burr. Ok, let’s talk about collaborations again. This might not count but I love Ellen DeGeneres! She’s just so cool and giving, I just love her. I also love Tyler Oakley; he’s taking over the world.

Celinda: You know who I think you should collaborate with one day? Jack and Finn. You guys could be like triplets, because you honestly remind me so much of them.

Charlotte: No one has ever told me that before. I remember when they first came about, they like hit the scene on a summer and it just went wild. But after Emma Pickles, those were the first people I watched after my little brother showed me their videos. I also really love FunForLouis and PrankvsPrank. So you can add them all to the list!

Celinda: What advice would you give to someone who wants to start a YouTube channel but are hesitant or afraid?

Charlotte: Ok, so stop thinking about it and do it. I spent a whole year thinking about it, and it’s just a waste of time because you get frustrated thinking “oh what can I do?”. Because you’re never going to get that perfect video. I’m not always 100% happy with my videos, but I have to remember that I’m still learning, and I’m not going to get loads of views straight away. You’re not gonna get the perfect video so don’t try to wait for that moment because it’s not gonna happen. What’s going to happen is that after a few years in, people like to see how you’re growing, so my advice is to just do it. Also make sure you put up something you don’t mind a future employer seeing, or anyone seeing n the future. So make sure that anything you put out there is something you’re proud of.

Celinda: Ok, the next thing I want to ask you is, what’s one thing you wish you would have known about YouTube before becoming a YouTuber?

Charlotte: How time-consuming it can be. I get really frustrated because I constantly having different backgrounds because I’m in the process of moving. I think that everyone is really hard on themselves, so that’s something that I didn’t realize that I would get so frustrated at. Because when you do watch YouTubers that already have great content, views, backgrounds, people asking them to talk about their products, you start to think that they live in this perfect world, but then you realize that it’s not always like that and you have to work really hard at it.

Celinda: So do you have anything else you’d like to tell you viewers/readers who may be reading this interview?

Charlotte: That’s a good question. If I ever get boring, uninteresting, or if my viewers would prefer different content…please tell me! Most importantly thank you for watching me in the first place.

Celinda: I want to thank you again for taking the time to do this interview with me Charlotte. Hopefully we can do this again sometime.

Charlotte: Thank you, it was lovely to meet you properly.

YouTube Wednesday: Charlotte Davis…the internet’s newest BFF

Hello people of the internet!!! Before we jump into today’s blog, please allow me to mention a few names too you. Bethany Mota( macbarbie07), Weylie Hoang (ilikeweylie), Zoe Sugg (Zoella), Meghan Rienks (meaghanrosette), what do all of these names have in common? All of these young women are very successful beauty/fashion/lifestyle gurus who have obtained their large and loyal fanbase through showcasing their skills, wit, and bubbly/funny personality through their videos. Please allow me to now introduce you to the next young guru who will soon be joining these superstars of the web. People of the internet please give it up for Charlotte Davis (everybody clap!!!). I discovered Charlotte’s channel the other day through Twitter (thank you Twitter!), and I am so happy that I did. I have watched all of her videos, and I can honestly say that I am a HUGE fan! So without further ado, let’s go!!!

Charlotte Davis uploaded her 1st YouTube video (a spring beauty/fashion/homeware spring haul Spring Haul – Beauty, Fashion, Homeware | Charlotte Davis) on March 14th, 2014. I really love this video, because in it Charlotte really allows her personality to show. I really love to watch the first video that various YouTube creators upload, because they can often be awkward and shy, and it’s nice to see how these YouTubers grow over the years. However Charlotte’s video was very different than your typical ‘first beauty guru video’. In this haul, Charlotte is confident, witty, and seems to have a natural charisma for on camera work. The one thing that I really look for in YouTube personalities (gurus, musicians, vloggers, etc.) is relatability, because if you don’t feel like you can relate to a YouTuber, then you really won’t enjoy their videos no matter how good they are at what they specialize in. While I was watching her haul video, I felt as if I was skyping with Charlotte, and we were having a conversation (don’t worry I didn’t respond to my computer screen…I promise I didn’t). She really made me feel as if we were BFFS, and this is definitely a characteristic that will help her quickly earn a loyal fanbase that will help take her far. Needless to say I was very impressed. Moving on, another video that Charlotte has uploaded that I really enjoyed was her ‘Minnie Mouse French Bow’ tutorial (Easy Minnie Mouse French Bow | Hair Tutorial | Charlotte Davis). In this video, Charlotte takes her audiences through the step by step process of creating a really cool hairstyle that looks like Minnie Mouse’s iconic bow. This is definitely one of my favorite new videos, because it makes achieving the look seem very simple (depending on how good you are with styling hair, if you’re like me…you may want to practice a bit). I feel that this video truly shows how skilled Charlotte is with styling hair, and makes me excited for any future hair tutorials she does. I was most impressed by the fact that she did the first part of the look (a French braid with her back to the camera, her head upside down, and no mirror (yeah…that takes some serious skill y’all).

One thing that I really love about Charlotte’s channel thus far is how diverse her videos are. So far she has reviews, haul videos, a ‘favorites’ video, a baking video. The baking video was an Easter themed vlog that taught us how to make ‘Cream Egg Brownies’ (Cream Egg Brownies | Charlotte Davis | Easter 2014). Again, Charlotte really allowed her personality to shine through this video. I really loved that she read the recipe as she filmed the video, and didn’t edit out any bloopers or funny moments. This really made her video feel natural, and made her even more relatable because she looked like a typical girl baking. By the end of this video I feel that Charlotte accomplish three main things: 1) she further proved that she’s a really fun person to watch on camera, 2)she can not only give out great fashion/beauty advice, but she can make too, and 3) she made me really want to try that recipe…seriously I was really hungry after watching this video.  The finial video that I’m going to discuss with y’all in this blog is Charlotte’s ‘Graze Unboxing Review’  (Graze is a company that provides various healthy snacks that are packaged perfectly for those who are always on the go Graze Unboxing Review | Charlotte Davis | Easter – YouTube). What I really love about this review, is that she tries out the products for the first time on video. Because of this, you get her honest reactions to the snacks, which I feel better validates her opinions. I also love that Charlotte is very honest in her review of the snacks. She speaks about how she loves certain snacks, and why she doesn’t like other snacks. I know that sometimes you can wonder if reviewers are paid to say good things about products they don’t really like, so it’s nice to know when you are receiving an honest opinion.

So as you can see…Charlotte’s awesome! She has definitely quickly become one of my favorite new YouTubers, and I am SO excited to see her channel grow. I can definitely see big things in Charlotte’s future, and I know that she will join the YouTube elite very soon. I honestly had a really hard time choosing which videos to write about for this blog post because I love all of Charlotte’s videos, and wanted to talk about them all. I HIGHLY suggest checking out Charlotte’s videos, following/subscribing to all of her social media accounts, and spreading the word about her channel…trust me you’ll be happy you did!

Monday Memos: 2014 AMAs Recap

Hello people of the internet!!! On last night’s (November 24, 2013) AMAs, A LOT of stuff happened. Ok, ready? Let’s get started!

Host:

This year’s AMAs were hosted by Latin rap superstar Pitbull, who certainly seemed to be appreciative of his hosting gig. Pitbull said that it was a miracle that he was hosting the award show, and that he was living the American dream. Although Pitbull’s opening monologue was short, he did make a pop culture reference when he asked several female dancers to come on stage to twerk for the crowd. He also explained that twerking was not a new concept, and stated various names that twerking has been giving, previous to Miley Cyrus adopting the dance.

Winners:

  •  Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist: Justin Timberlake

With the tremendous success of his latest 2 part album ‘The 20/20 Experience’, it’s obvious why Justin tops pop this year.

  •  Favorite Soul/R&B Female Artist: Rihanna

Once again Rihanna proves why she is an unstoppable force in the music industry, by adding yet another award to her long list of achievements.

  •  Favorite Country Album: ‘Red’ by Taylor Swift

The golden girl strikes again (and no I was not referring to her hair color) ! The first award that Taylor won last night was so appropriate and well deserved.

  • Favorite Rap/Hip Hop Album: ‘The Heist’ by Ryan Lewis & Macklemore

This team has had an iron claw on radio since their song ‘Thrift Shop’ made thrift stores cool (now you know you want to go to a thrift store and just start rapping…yes you do, don’t deny it!). They have had similar success with their numerous other tracks such as ‘Same Love’ and ‘Can’t Hold Us’, so it’s obvious why they would take this award home.

  •  Favorite Alternative Rock Artist: Imagine Dragons

One thing that keeps this band on top is their constant habit to always evolve musically. Even though they had us hooked when their hit song ‘It’s Time’ first hit the airways, Imagine Dragon has continued to push their musical capabilities with their equally infectious tracks ‘Radioactive’ and ‘Demons’.

  • Favorite Latin Music Artist: Marc Anthony

For the past few decades Marc Anthony has been an icon in Latin and mainstream music, so it’s not surprising that fans still love him.

  • Favorite Pop/Rock Album: ‘Take Me Home’ by One Direction

C’mon was it ever a question that this super group would win! Since their U.S. debut in 2011 with the smash ‘What Makes You Beautiful’, this boy band has had an iron grip on the hearts of U.S fans. This was One Direction’s first AMA, and as if that wasn’t special enough, they were the only British group of the night to win an American Music Award.

  •  Favorite New Artist of the Year: Ariana Grande

This powerhouse vocalist has been compared to many iconic female vocalists, and if this year is any indication, she will have a very long and successful career. At only 20 years old, Ariana has had a role on a successful Broadway musical, has been on two highly successful TV shows, and has had a number 1 album. So this is a girl you should definitely keep your eye on, and if you haven’t, pick up her debut album ‘Yours Truly’.

  • Icon Award: Rihanna

At the ripe old age of 25, super star Rihanna won the 1st ever Icon Award last night. With many accolades which include: six Grammy Awards, 12 number one singles, and the honor of being Billboard’s highest selling digital artist of the 2000s, it is obvious to see why Rihanna is a musical icon. The award was made extra special because Rihanna’s mother presented the award to her (Ok, everyone say AWWWWWWW!), so last night was a good night to be Rihanna, good job girl!

  •  Favorite Soul/R&B Male Artist: Justin Timberlake

Since 1993, when a fresh faced young boy named Justin Timberlake appeared on ‘The Mickey Mouse Club’, he has had full control of the hearts of fans. From his time as a member of the highly successful boy band N’ Sync, to his even more successful solo career, Justin’s iron grip on the music industry has only tightened with age. And I have to say that it was so funny when Justin won, he walked over to Taylor Swift and started mouthing “Oh my god, oh my god” (yes, my words exactly Justin).

  •  Favorite Country Female Artist: Taylor Swift

Ok, for 1 minute we’re going to pretend that this was a surprise…ok minute over now back to the blog. Well, Taylor had such a successful night last night, adding 4 more awards to her large collections (Have you ever wondered how many award shelves she must have?).

  •  Favorite Single of the Year: ‘Cruise’ by Florida Georgia Line Feat. Nelly

This cross-over track has controlled mainstream and country radio for the last year, and has turned country duo Florida Georgia Line into a household name. With all of this considered, it makes perfect sense that this song won the AMAs first ever ‘Single of the Year’ award.

  •  Favorite Soul/R&B Album: Justin Timberlake

Yes Justin Timberlake won again! (It was a good night to be Justin Timberlake! GO Justin GO Justin! ok my fangirl moment is over).

  •  Favorite Electronic Dance Music Artist: Avicii

This has been a huge year for electronic dance music, and Avicii’s mega hit ‘Wake Me Up’, featuring vocalist Aloe Blacc, has certainly put him in the fore front of the minds of music lovers.

  • Favorite Country Male Artist: Luke Bryan

The country superstar has been burning up the charts, as well as celebrating a very successful year with a lot of awards. It seems that fans just can’t get enough of this rising king of country.

  • Favorite Pop/Rock Band/Duo/Group: One Direction

Now when you say the words ‘favorite’, ‘pop’, ‘group’, you gotta think of One Direction. These guys have gone from reality show contestants to full-fledged pop superstars, and with the release of yet another #1 album, it’s obvious that there is no stopping these talented guys (good job Simon Cowell, we are forever in debt to you!).

  •  Favorite Country Group: Lady Antebellum

This group has had quite the year, from releasing a successful album, to performing with the legendary Stevie Nicks; this group is truly making their mark on music history.

  • Favorite Artist of the Year: Taylor Swift

Just when you think that Taylor can’t do anything else to surprise us, she does something amazing like this. Good job Taylor, after all your success with ‘Red’ you deserve this award (c’mon you know she does…don’t be mean)

The following awards were not presented during the actual award show:

  • Favorite Female Artist-Pop/Rock:

This award shows that Taylor’s music has now gone beyond genre restrictions, and that her fans now span an extremely large demographic.

  • Favorite Artist-Adult Contemporary:

From their hit 2002 album ‘Songs about Jane’, this rock band has had the hearts and ears of fans worldwide. With front man Adam Levine’s participation on the hit NBC show ‘The Voice’, this band has only gotten more and more popular.

  • Favorite Artist-Contemporary Inspirational: Matthew West

This super star has been taking his fans “to church” ever since his award winning 2003 debut album ‘Happy’. Matthew has also written tracks for numerous Christian and mainstream acts (such as Rascal Flatts, Billy Ray Cyrus, and country music legend Vince Gill).

  • Top Soundtrack: Pitch Perfect

Ok on the count of three everyone say YESSSSS. Ready? One, two, oh I can’t wait YESSSSS! You know you’ve been spending the past year quoting every line form this movie, and singing every song. So of course it would make sense that this movie is so successful I mean it brought us Fat Amy right?! You may now jump in the air and fangirl…ok time’s up.

Performances:

There were so many amazing performances this year so let’s get started!

  • Katy Perry kicked off the show with a performance of her hit song ‘Unconditionally’. The performance had a Japanese theme, complete with Katy and her dancers wearing beautiful, multicolored kimonos, and dancing with fans. The screens behind Katy had visuals of Japanese lanterns rising up, which helped the overall effect of the performance. There was also a Zen garden on the stage, and midway through the performance, Katy danced with an umbrella as strobe lights shined around her. The performance ended with confetti falling from the ceiling, as some of the dancers did acrobatic tricks in the air. Katy then ascended the stairs, a smoke screen emerged, and then Katy disappeared. A very cool way to end a performance if you ask me!
  • Next up was the super group of the moment, One Direction. The guys sang the track ‘Story of my Life’ one of the singles off of their latest hit record ‘Midnight Memories’. The staging consisted of several small light bulbs which resembled candles, and gave a very intimate feel to the performance. The guys mostly stood still during their performance, but in typical 1D fashion, they looked as if they were singing to every individual girl in the audience. Such a solid performance by the guys on their big night!

  •  Ariana Grande was the next performer, and even though she tweeted that she was extremely nervous about her performance, she certainly didn’t show it. Ariana sang a very small portion of her hit song ‘The Way’, and then dove into a full rendition of her 50’s inspired hit ‘Tattooed Heart’. The throwback style performance was made complete with 4 backup singers, who all sang with old school 50’s style mics (you know the one’s that can’t be taken off of their stand, but look really cool. Oh and Ariana also sang with this kind of mic, so it made her performance that much more authentic). When Ariana finished performing, she received a standing ovation, and it was definitely deserved, because her voice was so strong and precise, despite the fact that she has been performing A LOT…don’t you wish you were this amazing? I sure do!
  •  Imagine Dragons were up next, and they definitely brought the rock and roll with them. Their set started with their newest hit ‘Demons’, which included cool blue lights and a lot of smoke on the stage. They then transitioned into their song ‘Radioactive’, which included red lights and yeah you guessed it smoke! At another part of the performance, all the members of the band had a drum solo, so that was so different and cool!
  • The man of the honor was up next…yup you guessed it Pitbull! Pop star Ke$ha joined him on their hit song ‘Timber’ with several dancers on stage with them. The staging consisted of two staircases, and there was a lot of really cool fire shooting all over the stage. The pressure was definitely on for Pitbull to deliver on this performance because of his job as host, and….he delivered. Two thumbs up!
  • Justin Timberlake was up next and as always he delivered. JT sang the track ‘Drink You Away’, one of the songs off of his album ‘The 20/20 Experience’. He introduced himself as Justin Timberlake and the Tennessee Kids, and the band included several backup singers, and instrumentalist. Justin also played the guitar during his performance (he sings, dances, acts, writes music, plays guitar, seriously what can this guy not do!). The performance once again proved that this super star isn’t going anywhere!
  • Country duo Florida Georgia Line performed their infectious cross-over hit ‘Cruise’ with hip hop star Nelly next. All three guys did an amazing job performing the song, and once the song was completed, they transitioned into singing Nelly’s 2001 hit ‘Ride wit Me’, which was unexpected, but was also a very cool transition. Since Florida Georgia Line and Nelly have been performing this song on award shows all year, it was nice to see them do something different with this performance.
  •  AMA Icon award .winner Rihanna performed her super hit ‘Diamonds’ next, and she definitely “shined bright like a diamond” (I’m sorry I had to say it). Rihanna wore a beautiful black dress, a pearl chocker, pearl barrettes, and diamond earrings, which made her performance, look very elegant. Between the stunning ensemble that Rihanna wore, and her incredible vocals, Rihanna proved that she is a musical icon!
  • Next up was Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, who performed live from Miami via satellite feed (don’t you just love technology!). The two performed their latest hit ‘Can’t Hold Us’, and their staging had lights of various colors, and some of the lyrics appeared on the screen behind them. They brought a lot of energy to their performance (as always!), and proved why they deserved such a great year (because c’mon, 2013 was a very good year for these guys!).
  • Multi-talented superstar Jennifer Lopez performed next, with an amazing tribute to late Cuban superstar Celia Cruz. JLo performed a medley of some of the late superstar’s hit songs. Her performance showcased numerous dancers doing many Latin style dances, and JLo (who had 3 quick changes during the performance) proved that her dancing skills haven’t lost a beat during her many years in the industry. She did many difficult dances, including one move at the end of her performance where she was lifted into the air by her partner, and ended in a plank position above his head. This performance was actually my favorite of the night, you gotta love her.
  • Great Big World and Christina Aguilera performed their chart topper ‘Say Something’ next, and it was pure magic. My favorite thing about their performance was the fact that the two acts have such distinct voices; however their voices still blend together so perfectly.
  • Hip Hop artist Kendrick Lamar performed his hit track ‘Swimming Pools (Drank)’ next and showed that he is one to watch in hip hop. The artist is currently opening for Kanye West, and his performance at the AMAS last night demonstrated that he won’t remain an opening act for very long.
  •  Country superstar Luke Bryan performed his hit ‘My Kinda Night’ next, and he certainly received a warm welcome form the crowd. The back screen behind Luke had a ring pattern that grew and then collapsed (it sort of reminded me of a screensaver, it was really cool). The staging also consisted of lots of red and white lights, and of course included Luke’s signature dancing. All in all it was a very fun performance, that made you wanna get up and dance.
  • Iconic R&B group TLC made a special appearance next, and performed their hit ‘Waterfalls’ with the assistance of rap/hip hop artist Lil’ Mama. The group performed all of the original dance moves from the ‘Waterfalls’ music video, and Lil’ Mama did an excellent job performing the rapping segment of the song. At the end of the performance, the back screen showed a photo of the late Lisa “Left-Eye” Lopes, which was a beautiful touch to the performance. The performance itself was amazing, and showed just how great T-Boz and Chili are, due to the fact that they can still perform the iconic song with such precession and skill, even after all these years.

So all in all, the AMAs were full of exciting moments and amazing musical numbers. The show definitely did not disappoint, and made me excited for next year.
