Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘YouTube Wednesday we’re going to talk about an AMAZING YouTuber that you need in your life! If you haven’t heard of Super Space Chick (aka Kristin) then you are missing out on one of the best emerging BookTube channels on the internet! So now let’s get to the videos. Ready? Ok, let’s go!!!
The first video that we’re going to talk about is Kristin’s ‘Nail Art Tutorial Inspired By A Darker Shade of Magic’, which was uploaded on March 9th, 2015. In this video Kristin is joined by author Melissa Grey of the ‘novelnails’ Tumblr page. This is a very cool video that will show you easy, interesting ways to make beautiful nail art using a lot of inexpensive products, as well as things you may already have at home. Such a fun DIY project that you can try alone or with friends! The next video we’re going to talk about is her ‘Sailor Moon Book Tag’, which was uploaded on June 29th, 2016 (you can check out the video below). Personally I LOVE this tag because Sailor Moon is life (it’s a fact…just trust me on this). This is a very cute tag that asks bookish questions set to a theme involving numerous characters from the anime/manga. Also on a side note, Kristin cosplays as Sailor Moon in this video which adds the perfect touch and really shows what a fun personality she has.
Now we’re going to discuss Kristin’s ‘Books That Help Me Find My Way’ video, which was uploaded on March 19th, 2018 (you can check out the video below). This video was made in honor of Gayle Forman’s new book ‘I Have Lost My Way’, and features some of the books that have personally shaped Kristin which include: ‘Harry Potter’, ‘The Perks of Being A Wallflower’, ‘The Book Thief’, and many others. I really feel that this video shares such an important message of how the things we love shape who we become. Whether your hobbies include books, video games, sports, or academics, the things that we hold close to our hearts really determine the values we hold dear, as well as how we relate to the world. The final video we’re going to discuss is Kristin’s ‘Anime Wrap Up #3- Orange, Your Name, No Game No Life, Rose of Versailles’, video which was uploaded on July 20th, 2018. This is a really interesting video because it shows the diversity present on Kristin’s channel, and really helps you relate to her. On he channel, you can find book/manga/graphic novel reviews, anime reviews, various tags, and so many other interesting videos, that you will never be bored. These type of channels are always my favorite, because if we’re being honest, usually if you’re a book nerd you’re also a nerd in other areas of your life so it’s fun to see a YouTuber who’s not afraid to release their inner nerd.
You can keep up with everything Kristin is doing here:
Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘Monday Memos’ we’re going to talk about a topic that has sent the internet into a frenzy this past week. If you loved the ‘Harry Potter’ books then get your wands ready because we’re going back to the wizarding world. Now for most of us ‘Harry Potter’ mania has never fully gone away, and has continued to live on in the form of theme parks, fanfiction/fanart, and so much more. In October of 2015 we were told that the ‘Harry Potter’ universe would continue in the form of a stage play which would open at the Palace Theater in London, England on July 30th, 2016. Now needless to say, a lot of fans were upset because unfortunately not all of us can travel to London just to see a Harry Potter play (no matter how awesome that would be!). Luckily on February 10th of this year, it was announced that the play’s script would be available in book form on July 31st, 2016 (aka Harry Potter’s birthday) in both print and digital download. So now I know y’all are all super excited right? Right! So let’s jump into the plot of the play. Ready? Ok, let’s go!!!
So far we know that this story will take place during the time of the epilogue of the final book/movie (or 19 years after the final battle when Harry, Hermione, and Ron are 17). In this play we will see Harry as an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, who has to deal with the effects his past has on his new life. We have been told that we will also get to learn more about Harry’s parents, “an untold piece of Harry’s story” (which I’m guessing is either his life before the 1st book, or in between where the 8th book ends and this story begins). The story will also revolve around Harry’s son Albus, who is beginning his 1st year at Hogwarts, and will have to deal with the weight and expectations that come with his family’s legacy. Needless to say this book has already reached the #1 spot for pre-ordered books on Amazon, and will definitely do very well when it’s released. So what do you think people of the internet? Are you excited to learn more about Harry and his friend’s/family’s lives? Let me know what you think in the comments below!

Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘Monday Memos’ we’re going to talk about a character from the ‘Harry Potter’ franchise that we went on a real roller coaster of feels with. As soon as we saw Professor Snape, we felt anger, dislike, perhaps hate towards him, but over the years this character grew in unsuspected ways, and became many fan’s favorite character in the franchise. In the wake of Alan Rickman’s tragic passing, I decided that it would be a great idea to countdown Mr. Rickman’s ‘Top 5 Greatest Snape Moments’. Now I know that he did a lot of other amazing movies and plays, and that there are way more than 5 great Snape moments in the ‘Harry Potter’ films and books. However, for the purpose of this post, I limited the countdown to one scene per film (even though I didn’t include 2 films in order to keep the list shorter), and we’re only discussing scenes that are found in the films. So now let’s get to the fun. Ready? Ok, let’s go!!!
5) Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s (Philosopher’s) Stone:
Ok now technically some of this scene was cut in the final movie but it’s included on the DVD release so we’ll count it. I love how this is the first scene that we get to see Snape interact with Harry, and he completely terrifies/enrages us all at the same time. Alan Rickman did an amazing job of making Snape an instant villain, and we also got the birth of sassy Harry so this is definitely a scene you’ll want to watch again and again.
4) Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets:
Honestly I think that this is really an underrated scene. By this point you either love or hate Snape (depending on your opinion of villian characters), however whether you love him or hate him, you have to admit that Snape is really cool in this scene. This was the first of many amazing dueling scenes that we would see Alan Rickman in, and this really adds a cool vibe to Snape’s character.
3) Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban:
Personally this scene between Snape, Sirius, and Professor Lupin is probably one of my favorite scenes in the franchise, because it’s funny and revealing. We get a chance to not only meet Sirius and get to know more about Professor Lupin, but we also get to see the dynamic that the three characters must have shared when they were in school (siriusly when is that marauders movie coming out…ok I know that this pun was cheesy but I couldn’t help it).
2) Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince:
I think that we can all agree that one of the saddest moments in the ‘Harry Potter’ franchise was when Dumbledore died. At that moment I’m sure everyone hated Snape, and we were all convinced that he had betrayed the man who put so much faith in him. Honestly Alan Rickman, Daniel Radcliffe, Michael Gabon, and everyone else in that scene did such an amazing job that we really felt the anguish and loss of everyone’s favorite Headmaster. This was truly one of Alan Rickman’s greatest ‘Harry Potter’ moments and shows just how talented of an actor he was, from his facial expressions, to the way his voice shakes when he says that final spell, truly a magical performance.
1) Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2:
Ok and now we’ve reached the scene that EVERY ‘Harry Potter’ fan knows and gets the feels over. Yes we’ve reached the ‘Always’ scene, now prepare to cry. In this scene we learned so much about Snape that it literally changed how we looked at all of his scenes up to this point. This is a moment that all Harry Potter fans truly treasure because it not only showed what a great author J.K. Rowling is, but also how Alan Rickman was able to take such a complex character and change him from a villain into a hero in a single scene. A truly breathtaking performance that we will remember, always. RIP Alan Rickman, we raise our wands up to you!

Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘Monday Memos’ we’re going to talk about a new show that we’re all going to want to check out on Netflix. If you have ever read the novel ‘Thirteen Reasons Why’ by Jay Asher then prepared to get really excited! In 2011 Universal Pictures purchased the rights to make ‘Thirteen Reasons Why’ into a film starring Selena Gomez. On October 29th (of 2015) it was announced that this book would instead be made into a 13 episode miniseries that will be executive produced by Selena Gomez, her mother Mandy Teefey, and Kristel Laiblin (who has also served as a producer for films such as The Man with the Iron Fists, In Time, and Children of Men). I’m not 100% sure if Selena will still star as the lead character Hannah Baker, but I’m sure we’ll find out soon so I’m excited to find out. Personally I am a HUGE fan of this book, so I’m excited to see this miniseries. This is the latest book to get a film/TV release, following other Young Adult novels such as: Harry Potter, Twilight, The Hunger Games, The Divergent Trilogy, The Fault in our Stars, and the TV show Eye Candy, among many others. It’s really cool to see our favorite stories get a breath of fresh air by coming to life on the big and small screen, and I’m really excited to see which of our favorite novels will be added to this list next. So now let’s discuss the plot a little bit (and don’t worry there won’t be any huge spoilers).
The story revolves around the aftermath of the suicide of a high school girl named Hannah Baker. We follow the story through the eyes of a shy guy named Clay Jensen who is surprised to find a box of 7 cassette tapes from an anonymous person. He listens to the tapes and finds out that Hannah is narrating the tapes. On these tapes she explains that there are 12 people & 13 reasons that are responsible for her committing suicide. She says that each of the 12 people must pass the tapes along to the next person, otherwise someone else will release a second set of the tapes to everyone at their school. This is definitely a really interesting story that will take you on a rollercoaster of emotions. The book ends with giving the audience a lot of really good life lessons, but do so in a very realistic non-preachy way. I am so excited that this book is getting more attention, and I am interested to see where Netflix takes this story.
Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘Monday Memos’ we are going to discuss the top 5 lies that movies have told us. Now we have seen movies and thought “One day my life will be like that”, and then we grow up and well…it doesn’t happen. But, we still love these movies just the same because everyone needs a little escape right? Right! Also, I just want everyone to know that I actually really love all of the following movies, I just thought that this would be a funny little blog post to make your Monday just a little more enjoyable! So, please read on and let me know what lies movies have told y’all.
5) Lilo and Stitch
This fun cartoon taught us that if you’re different and don’t have any friends, the universe will bring you a friend who happens to be an alien. You’ll go on a crazy adventure with this friend, but in the end all of your problems will be solved and life will be a lot better. I wish that this would actually happen, because who wouldn’t love an alien as a pet right?
4) Mean Girls
Since we’re on the subject of misfits; let’s talk about everyone’s fav movie about the horrors of high school. Mean Girls teaches us that if you’re new, then you should pretend to be friends with the mean/popular girls in school, use their own tactics to backstab them, then actually become the head mean girl. You should then turn on the only “real” friends you actually had in the school, and then some dramatic things will happen where everyone begins to hate you. In the end you just have to say you’re sorry and everything will be fine, and life will be better than ever before. Yeah…unfortunately this usually doesn’t happen.
3) Forrest Gump
Now this movie teaches us that if you happen to always be in the right place at the right time then you will get to meet really famous people and witness historical events. You will then get to go on a lot of amazing adventures, and later become a millionaire. Also, if you hold on long enough to someone who may or may not really be capable of truly loving you, then eventfully they will end up with you…and then they will die. But that’s ok because life is a box of chocolates…right?
2) Harry Potter
This franchise taught us that even if your life sucks, a giant will one day find you and tell you that you are actually a really rich wizard. You will then spend the next few years fighting a psychopath that has been trying to kill you ever since you were born. In the end you will have to kill this crazy person, and lose a lot of really nice people (and one extremely cute elf named Dobby) along the way. In the end you will win, have a lot of really awesome friends, and marry your best friend’s sibling. So…sign me up!
1) High School Musical
Ok, this movie tells us that whether you’re a nerd, a drama queen (or king), a star athlete, or anything in between, you WILL randomly break out in song and dance…a lot! Also, no matter what you are awesome at, you will have a completely opposite talent that you are just as awesome at. But, the biggest lie that this movie taught us, is that if you go to high school like you’re suppose too, then you will get Zac Efron…there was no Zac Efrons at my high school (biggest disappointment ever!). Also there are no epic song and dance number at most high school graduations…don’t you just feel cheated (we were NOT all in this together).
Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘Monday Memos’ I am pleased to bring you an interview I recently had with the incredibly talented rising YouTube star Charlotte Davis. This interview was particularly fun for me, because I had originally written about Charlotte on her birthday in April, and we were now doing an interview the day before my birthday in October. I just thought that this was a really fun fact that y’all would enjoy. Through this interview, I really wanted y’all to get to know Charlotte better, and I definitely think that after reading it you will feel like you’re long lost BFFs. In this interview, you will learn all about why Charlotte decided to join YouTube, who she hopes to collaborate with someday, her other hidden talents and her connection to Daniel Radcliffe (yes Harry Potter, its true). So get ready to learn all about YOUR fav new YouTuber Charlotte Davis.
Celinda: Hi Charlotte! With this interview I really want to get to know you a little bit more, because when I was initially researching information about you, I couldn’t find a lot outside of your videos. So I wanted to get to know you a little better, a little about your back story and such so your viewers can feel like they’re BFFs with Charlotte. So, we often hear about people joining YouTube because of bullying, boredom, or to advance other careers like music, things of that nature, so why did you join YouTube.
Charlotte: I remember that I’ve always loved art, crafts, and making things. It was 2 years ago this Halloween, that I googled how to do some crazy, awesome Halloween makeup. I always thought that YouTube was for music videos and things like that. I really didn’t know about people having channels or anything like that. So I googled Halloween makeup and I came across Emma Pickles. I remember coming across her, and thinking that she’s just so talented. From that I saw the regular makeup videos, and I’ve always had an interest in makeup, but I’ve never felt that I was particularly good at it. I always said to my mom, “I don’t know what I should do”, and my mom would go “well, you’re good at talking”. So I would like to make my channel more chatty, but I guess it’s hard until somebody know you, that they’ll just want to listen to you talk. But watching Emma’s videos is really how I got into YouTube.
Celinda: So I think you already touched on my next question a little bit. My next question was about your interest in fashion and beauty. Were you the little girl growing up who always wanted to be a princess and wear cute sparkly things, or are fashion and beauty an interest you developed later in life?
Charlotte: Yeah I did. I have 3 brothers, so when I was born, my mom was so thankful. She just put me in dresses and I think that she just liked having a little best friend, but I remember loving clip-clops (the little glittery Cinderella like slippers). But from studying art, I always used to draw dresses. When it comes to fashion, I love looking at it, but I’m not really good at designing. But I’ve always taken an interest in trends. I also love shoes, bags, and scarves because they look the same every day, whether you’re having a good day or bad day. That’s why I always buy cool jewelry and accessories (after this when went on for about 10 minutes or so fangirling over YouTubers…it was awesome!).
Celinda: So do you have any specific goals that you hope to achieve through your YouTube channel in the future?
Charlotte: Yes. Ever since I was little, I’ve always wanted to be a television presenter, which is a little funny now because if I were to ever reach that goal, I don’t know if I would want it to be on television, or on YouTube. So I think it goes back to the whole thing of chatting, and listening to other people’s stories, and hearing what they’re about. So I would like to try presenting in some form, or being a part of something.
Celinda: I think you would be really good at that. I could definitely see you on television, YouTube, radio; honestly you could do it all. So I want to move on and talk about your blog site for a second. I was really excited when you launched it, because once I started reading it, your words and phrasing was just so animated that I felt like I felt like I get to travel with you and see the things you see. I particularly loved the post with all the desserts because it made me very hungry (here’s the link guys (Top Edinburgh Bites – Don’t go at all unless you go here . . . |Charlotte Davis Review| | ). So I was wondering if you had any plans to further your writing career, and maybe become an author or something in that realm?
Charlotte: Well, I was never very academic in school and that’s why the arts drew me in. But I’ve never had someone tell me my writing was animated so that’s really cool. I have to say that I’m not a very good reader, it’s definitely something that I’ve neglected, but listening to audible books have made me really interested in listening to stories.
Celinda: Well maybe you could be the next J.K. Rowling and write the next Harry Potter book that we all desperately want.
Charlotte: It’s funny because I actually worked in ‘Harry Potter World’ and there’s a lot of trivia that you miss form the books that people would always ask me about. I remember seeing Daniel Radcliffe from a distance back in the U.K. and all I wanted to scream was “I worked in Harry Potter World” (so according to the ‘6 Degrees of Separation’ theory, Charlotte knows Daniel Radcliffe through working at Harry Potter World, I know him through knowing Charlotte, and you all know him through knowing me…we’re just gonna pretend it counts ok? Ok!).
Celinda: So do you have any other talents outside of beauty. fashion, art, and writing?
Charlotte: I think looking back on it; I always thought that I wasn’t particularly good at art or makeup because you think “well there’s always someone better”. When I was 15 I started working for a florist, and I really developed that skill and now I work as a florist and it’s cool because it’s a skill that I can always go back to.
Celinda: So a little earlier in the interview we were discussing some of the YouTubers that you love (I didn’t include most of this part because we fangirled A LOT and it would have made the interview a lot longer). So I was wondering if there was any YouTuber that you could collaborate with who would it be and why?
Charlotte: I just really Essie Buttons because she’s geeky but also cool, and Bethany Mota looks like she puts so much effort into her videos, it’s just incredible. I also really love Tanya Burr. Ok, let’s talk about collaborations again. This might not count but I love Ellen DeGeneres! She’s just so cool and giving, I just love her. I also love Tyler Oakley; he’s taking over the world.
Celinda: You know who I think you should collaborate with one day? Jack and Finn. You guys could be like triplets, because you honestly remind me so much of them.
Charlotte: No one has ever told me that before. I remember when they first came about, they like hit the scene on a summer and it just went wild. But after Emma Pickles, those were the first people I watched after my little brother showed me their videos. I also really love FunForLouis and PrankvsPrank. So you can add them all to the list!
Celinda: What advice would you give to someone who wants to start a YouTube channel but are hesitant or afraid?
Charlotte: Ok, so stop thinking about it and do it. I spent a whole year thinking about it, and it’s just a waste of time because you get frustrated thinking “oh what can I do?”. Because you’re never going to get that perfect video. I’m not always 100% happy with my videos, but I have to remember that I’m still learning, and I’m not going to get loads of views straight away. You’re not gonna get the perfect video so don’t try to wait for that moment because it’s not gonna happen. What’s going to happen is that after a few years in, people like to see how you’re growing, so my advice is to just do it. Also make sure you put up something you don’t mind a future employer seeing, or anyone seeing n the future. So make sure that anything you put out there is something you’re proud of.
Celinda: Ok, the next thing I want to ask you is, what’s one thing you wish you would have known about YouTube before becoming a YouTuber?
Charlotte: How time-consuming it can be. I get really frustrated because I constantly having different backgrounds because I’m in the process of moving. I think that everyone is really hard on themselves, so that’s something that I didn’t realize that I would get so frustrated at. Because when you do watch YouTubers that already have great content, views, backgrounds, people asking them to talk about their products, you start to think that they live in this perfect world, but then you realize that it’s not always like that and you have to work really hard at it.
Celinda: So do you have anything else you’d like to tell you viewers/readers who may be reading this interview?
Charlotte: That’s a good question. If I ever get boring, uninteresting, or if my viewers would prefer different content…please tell me! Most importantly thank you for watching me in the first place.
Celinda: I want to thank you again for taking the time to do this interview with me Charlotte. Hopefully we can do this again sometime.
Charlotte: Thank you, it was lovely to meet you properly.
