Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘Monday Memos’ we are going to discuss the top 5 lies that movies have told us. Now we have seen movies and thought “One day my life will be like that”, and then we grow up and well…it doesn’t happen. But, we still love these movies just the same because everyone needs a little escape right? Right! Also, I just want everyone to know that I actually really love all of the following movies, I just thought that this would be a funny little blog post to make your Monday just a little more enjoyable! So, please read on and let me know what lies movies have told y’all.
5) Lilo and Stitch
This fun cartoon taught us that if you’re different and don’t have any friends, the universe will bring you a friend who happens to be an alien. You’ll go on a crazy adventure with this friend, but in the end all of your problems will be solved and life will be a lot better. I wish that this would actually happen, because who wouldn’t love an alien as a pet right?
4) Mean Girls
Since we’re on the subject of misfits; let’s talk about everyone’s fav movie about the horrors of high school. Mean Girls teaches us that if you’re new, then you should pretend to be friends with the mean/popular girls in school, use their own tactics to backstab them, then actually become the head mean girl. You should then turn on the only “real” friends you actually had in the school, and then some dramatic things will happen where everyone begins to hate you. In the end you just have to say you’re sorry and everything will be fine, and life will be better than ever before. Yeah…unfortunately this usually doesn’t happen.
3) Forrest Gump
Now this movie teaches us that if you happen to always be in the right place at the right time then you will get to meet really famous people and witness historical events. You will then get to go on a lot of amazing adventures, and later become a millionaire. Also, if you hold on long enough to someone who may or may not really be capable of truly loving you, then eventfully they will end up with you…and then they will die. But that’s ok because life is a box of chocolates…right?
2) Harry Potter
This franchise taught us that even if your life sucks, a giant will one day find you and tell you that you are actually a really rich wizard. You will then spend the next few years fighting a psychopath that has been trying to kill you ever since you were born. In the end you will have to kill this crazy person, and lose a lot of really nice people (and one extremely cute elf named Dobby) along the way. In the end you will win, have a lot of really awesome friends, and marry your best friend’s sibling. So…sign me up!
1) High School Musical
Ok, this movie tells us that whether you’re a nerd, a drama queen (or king), a star athlete, or anything in between, you WILL randomly break out in song and dance…a lot! Also, no matter what you are awesome at, you will have a completely opposite talent that you are just as awesome at. But, the biggest lie that this movie taught us, is that if you go to high school like you’re suppose too, then you will get Zac Efron…there was no Zac Efrons at my high school (biggest disappointment ever!). Also there are no epic song and dance number at most high school graduations…don’t you just feel cheated (we were NOT all in this together).

Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘YouTube Wednesday’ we are going to discuss an AMAZING new YouTube musician that you all need to check out. This amazingly talented guy has been posting videos on YouTube since 2007, and is definitely one of the internet’s best kept secrets. Whether you like R&B, Pop, Rock music, or anything in between, then you WILL find a song that you love on his channel. Who am I talking about? Well if the name Leroy Sanchez does not ring a bell then y’all need to get on YouTube ASAP and check out his awesome voice (well finish reading this post and then hop on over to YouTube, ok? Ok.). So let’s dive into the blog post and discuss a little bit of Leroy’s backstory, and some of his covers that I know y’all will love (hey 385,791 subscribers can’t be wrong right?). Also, please check out Leroy’s debut single ‘Little Dancer is out NOW, and his debut album is expected to drop soon so check out Leroy’s social media accounts and/or check back here to stay updated.
Leroy Sanchez grew up in Vitoria, Spain, and according to his website has always been a singer. Because of Leroy’s love for music, he decided to cultivate his teaching himself to play the guitar and sing at a very young age. Leroy steadily grew his audience, and in 2010 (3 years after he uploaded his first video), he grabbed the attention of Grammy Award winning producer Jim Jonsin (who has previously worked with, etc.). Leroy then went to Miami for a week to work with Jim, and after staying there for a few months, Leroy was signed to Jim’s Rebel Rock label (in partnership with Interscope Records). Leroy has also shown that he is not only an extremely talented artist, but also has a very giving nature, by volunteering with the organization CoachArt (which provides chronically ill children free lessons in the arts and various sports).
The first cover we’re going to talk about is the first cover on Leroy’s channel, which is a duet of ‘Breaking Free’ from High School Musical that he uploaded on January 19th, 2007. I really loved this cover because not every artist can perform a duet as well as they can sing solo, and Leroy proves early on that he can. Based off of this cover, I am VERY excited to see the other artist that Leroy could collaborate with in the future, but I’m getting ahead of myself here. I’ve heard a lot of covers of this song on YouTube ever since High School Musical first premiered, and I have to say that this is one of my favs. What I really love about this cover is that Leroy sounds AMAZING on this cover, but in the video he is very nervous and looks a bit unsure of his talent. Honestly there is something really charming about someone who is awesome and doesn’t know it. So please click here (breaking free live leroy and elena) and check out this incredible cover that you will have on repeat all day. The next cover we are going to discuss is Leroy’s cover of ‘Bleeding Love’ by Leona Lewis, which was uploaded on December 22nd, 2009. Honestly, this is an INCREDIBLY difficult song to sing because it requires being able to perform and properly control a lot of super hard notes, as well as your breathing. On top of this, you have to properly deliver the emotion behind the song, so needless to say, not everyone can do this. But Leroy does not disappoint us, and performs this song with ease. If you watch this video and compare it to his first one, you can see A LOT of improvement, which shows just how dedicated and passionate Leroy is about his craft (you can check out the awesome video right here Bleeding love by Leona Lewis (Requested song).
The next video that we’re going to talk about is Leroy’s cover (which was uploaded on February 1st, 2012) of R&B singer’s version of the song ‘I Can’t Make You Love Me’ (which was originally released by country singer Bonnie Raitt). I really enjoyed this cover because I felt like it showed just how much diversity Leroy’s voice has. Even though he did covers of R&B songs on his channel before this, ‘I Can’t Make You Love Me’ was originally a country song with blues influences, so it’s cool to see these influences in Leroy’s voice. I really love when an artist shows that they are comfortable in various genres of music, because it shows just how deep their love for music in general is, and ultimately makes their solo projects more interesting because of all of the various influences that sneak into the songs. Just like ‘Bleeding Love’, this is also another song that can’t be sung correctly if the artist does not properly connect with the emotions of the lyrics. If you haven’t checked out this cover, click here ( Can’t Make You Love Me – Bonnie Raitt (Tank’s version) by Leroy). There are a lot of other really awesome covers that y’all should check out (trust me once you get to his channel you will want to listen to all of his covers on repeat)! The finally video that we are going to discuss is Leroy’s official music video for his debut single ‘Little Dancer’ (which was uploaded on April 29th, 2014, and you can check out here Leroy Sanchez – Little Dancer). I really feel like this is a really cool debut single for Leroy because the song is an emotional ballad that has a really inspirational message about following your dreams. The song tells the story of a young girl who dreams of becoming a dancer, but allows obstacles and fear to stand in her way. I think that this is definitely a message that we can all relate to, and the video is extremely well shot. This video really makes me excited to see what other songs and videos that Leroy will release in the future! So as I’m sure y’all have already figured out, Leroy Sanchez is an artist on the rise that you don’t want to miss out on!

Hello people of the Internet!!! On today’s ‘Monday Memos’ we are going to discuss a young artist who is definitely on the rise. This talented young girl has already stolen our hearts with her infectious Pop/Rap songs, that have shattered records by becoming the youngest Covergirl spokesperson. Although 2014 was an AWESOME year for her, I predict that 2015 will only be bigger for her. Now if you haven’t already figured it out, I’m talking about singer/songwriter/rapper/dancer/actress/and all around cool girl Becky G (wow is there anything she can’t do!?! And she’s only 17…say it with me everyone…WOW!!!).
Ok we are now moving on to the biography part of this post, but I’ll give you y’all the shorten version, because we have Wikipedia for the rest. Ok! Becky G was born on March 2nd, 1997 in California. Becky has stated in interviews that she didn’t have the easiest time growing up, due to financial problems that her family went through when she was 9. Because of the family’s financial struggles, they were forced to move into Becky’s grandparent’s converted garage in Inglewood, California. Becky has said that even at such a young age, she felt that she should try to help her parents earn money to support the family. So, she made a deal with her parents and asked them to give her 6 months to try to break into the entertainment industry, at the end of the 6 months, she would forget about it if she didn’t get any work. Luckily, Becky’s natural talent allowed her to make a lasting impression on casting directors, and began doing voice-over and commercial work. She also started recording herself using Garageband (a computer program that let’s you record audio) to try showcase her singing abilities. Becky continued to gain exposure by performing in two girl bands: G.L.A.M (which was produced By Multi Platinum Producer Andrew Lane, who has worked with artists such as: the Backstreet Boys, Lisa ‘Left Eye’. Lopes, among others, and on soundtracks for: High School Musical, Hannah Montana, and many more), and B.C.G. In 2011, Becky began uploading videos of remixed versions of popular pop and hip-hop songs on videos onto YouTube (she would write her own rap lyrics, and add them to the songs in order to show how advanced her sense of artistry was). She later released the songs on a mix tape called ‘@itsbeckygomez‘. Althoughall of her songs were loved by fans, it was her cover of Kanye West and Jay-Z’s song ‘Otis’, that caught the attention of industry legend Dr. Luke. He was so impressed, that he signed Becky to his label Kemosabe Records (which is apart of Sony Music Entertainment).
Becky broke into the mainstream music scene on June 12, 2012, when she was featured on pop singer/fellow YouTube sensation Cody Simpson’s single ‘ Wish U Were Here’. Becky’s career continued to heat up, with the release of her songs: ‘Turn the Music Up’, ‘Oath’ (which was technically released by Cher Lloyd, but Becky is featured and co-wrote the song), and ‘Problem’ featuring Will.i.am. Becky returned to what initially got her noticed by remixing ‘Die Young'( which was originally made popular by Ke$ha) the track also features Juicy J and Wiz Khalifa, and ‘Jenny from the Block’ (which was made popular by Jennifer Lopez, and renamed ‘Becky from the Block’). In 2013, Gomez released her EP ‘Play It Again‘, which features 4 new tracks. On April 23, 2014, she released her new song ‘Shower’, which is the first single off of her debut album. ‘Shower’ became one of Becky G’s biggest hits to date, and she performed it on numerous shows such as the 2014 Teen Choice Awards. Due to all of her success, Becky was asked to open on Katy Perry, Jason Derulo, and Demi Lovato’s upcoming tours.
With the ability to sing, rap, dance, and completely take control of a crowd in any venue, it is easy to predict that Becky will have a VERY long career. At a young age, Becky has been able to figure out how to build a fiercely loyal fan base, and is already a well-loved artist in both the English and Spanish music markets. Becky has also become a fashion and beauty icon for her fans, proving that she truly is a well-rounded entertainer. I am so excited to see where her career takes her, and I know that she will not only build a legacy as a phenomenal entertainer, but will also blaze a trail for young artists who follow her. Give it up for your queen Beasters!!!
