Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘YouTube Wednesday’ we’re going to discuss an AMAZING artist that y’all NEED to check out immediately. Who am I talking about you ask? Excellent question everybody. Today you’re going to learn all about Victoria Skie, an incredible singer/songwriter from New York that you’re about to become completely obsessed with. So now please allow me to explain exactly why Victoria will be your new favorite artist. Ready? Ok, let’s go!!!
The first video we’re going to talk about is Victoria’s ‘Sorry- Justin Bieber (Cover)’ video, which was uploaded on November 21, 2015. This video is the perfect example of how Victoria can take a song and truly make it her own. This honestly doesn’t even feel like a cover, but more like what this song would’ve sounded like if Victoria was the original artist. The next video we’re going to discuss is her ‘Havana -Camila Cabello ft. Young Thug’ cover video which was uploaded on November 16, 2017 (you can check out this video below). Once again Victoria puts her own unique twist on this cover, which continues to show us how she is growing not only as a vocalist, but as an artist. In this video we get to see how Victoria would handle a more high tempo song which shows her diversity as an artist.
Next up we have the music video for Victoria’s original song ‘Arrow’, which was uploaded on May 8, 2018 (you can check out this video below). This is such a beautiful song y’all! The music video uses black & white tones, as well as beautiful framing to really help you feel the emotional impact of the lyrics of ‘Arrow’. After listening to this song you’ll see that Victoria is not only an exceptionally talented vocalist, but she is also a talented songwriter. So basically she can do it all! The last video we’re going to discuss is Victoria’s ‘Don’t Matter To Me – Drake ft. Michael Jackson’ cover video which was uploaded on July 13, 2018. I was really interested to see how Victoria was going to handle this song, because of the unique mix of both Drake & Michael Jackson’s musical styles in ‘Don’t Matter To Me’. Although we did not hear Victoria rapping in this cover, I thought she did a great job of combining these two songs into a very cool cover. One thing I definitely learned after listening to this cover was just when you think you know what Victoria is capable of, she does something to show her listeners that she is truly an artist who knows no boundaries.
You can keep up with everything Victoria is doing here:

Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘YouTube Wednesday’, we’re going to talk about a PHENOMINAL singer/songwriter who you will completely fangirl (and fanboy) over from the moment you hear her. If you haven’t stumbled across one of Rebecca Shearing’s AMAZING covers then you have no idea how deprived your ears are. Not only can she sing and play the piano, but she also has the ability to perfectly tackle any genre of music and make it sound completely fresh and unique. So now let’s get to what y’all are waiting for, the music! Ready? Ok, let’s go!!!
The first video that we’re going to talk about is Rebecca’s cover of ‘Happy’ by Leona Lewis, which was uploaded on January 30th, 2010 (you can check out the video below). I thought that this was an awesome video to kick things off with, because the song is not only technically challenging but should make you experience the feels when you listen to it. Rebecca does a really good job displaying her vocal skills in this cover, and it definitely makes you eager to see what she’ll tackle next. The next video that we’re going to discuss is Rebecca’s rendition of ‘Gangnam Style’ by PSY, which was uploaded on October 15th, 2012. When I saw this video, I was immediately intrigued, and honestly it was everything I thought it would be and so much more! Rebecca did an AMAZING job rearranging this song into a cool jazzy rendition that will give the song a really fun, fresh vibe. It’s a fun play on this viral hit, that will have you addicted to ‘Gangnam style all over again.
Next up, we have Rebecca’s cover of ‘Just Give Me a Reason’ by Pink feat. Nate Ruess, which was uploaded on March 25th, 2013. In this cover Rebecca really showed off her artistry, by fully engaging herself in the song, and bringing out the emotions that the lyrics of this song have. The fact that Rebecca was able to show that she’s an amazing storyteller in this video, only makes me more excited see what incredible original music she releases in the future. The final cover that we’re going to discuss is Rebecca’s cover of ‘Flashlight’ by Jessie J from the Pitch Perfect 2 soundtrack, which was uploaded on June 12th, 2015 (and you can check out below). This was such a breathtakingly beautiful cover, and will make you become even more obsessed with Rebecca’s channel. This video really proves that Rebecca has continued to perfect her craft, and now is not only able to sing/play the piano EXTREMELY well, but is also a true artist that will captivate your from the first not to the last, and will leave you constantly wanting more. With all the growth we’ve already seen from her, I can’t wait to see where Rebecca’s career takes her next.

Hello, people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘YouTube Wednesday. We are going to talk about a very interesting question that is a part of a new floating around YouTube. The question is “what wisdom would you share with your teenage self?”. YouTube asked many of its’ female creators to make a video where they answer this question (in honor of International Woman’s Day, which is on March 8th), using the hashtag #DearMe. I thought that this was a really cool topic to talk about because honestly, I think we all have things that we would love to tell our teenage selves. Everything from learning how to instagram repost to the video idea that we maybe should avoid. I watched A LOT of these videos, and even though they were all great, I decided to bring y’all 4 YouTubers from various YouTube communities. So check out these AMAZING women of the internet, and let me know what you would love to tell your teenage self. YouTube is a great platform for spreading important messages that could impact people’s lives in a positive way, so if you’re looking for an outlet like this, try creating some videos of yourself talking about issues that are important to you, and upload them onto your own channel. At first, you might need to use UpYourViews.com to boost engagement, but this will help you to grow an authentic follower base.
First off, we’re going to talk about actress/comedian/vlogger Grace Helbig’s video. Now most people know Grace from her previous YouTube show ‘Daily Grace’, her personal YouTube channel, her podcast ‘Not Too Deep With Grace Helbig’, her self-help book ‘Grace’s Guide: The Art of Pretending to Be a Grown-Up’, her work as a co-producer/co-star on the feature film ‘Camp Dakota’, and sooo much more TV/YouTube work that would be too long to list. I really loved Grace’s video, because it was full of a lot of good advice, but still included some of the humor that makes Grace so much fun to watch. She, like some other YouTubers, is very easy to understand and her videos are entertaining as well as informative. Perhaps she uses a tool like https://tubeast.com to make her videos fun for all! In this video, she talks about having fun with life, and always laughing no matter what is going on. I think that that is a really good message because as we get older we can forget to take the time to have fun, and eventually, just become stressed out messes (and who wants that right?), Grace also talks about not letting your fear’s control you, and even says that there is a philosophy in improv comedy that says you should “follow your fear”. I think that this is good advice to follow, because as the great philosopher Taylor Swift once said “To me, Fearless is not the absence of fear. It’s not being completely unafraid. To me, Fearless is having fears. Fearless is having doubts. Lots of them. To me, Fearless is living in spite of those things that scare you to death”. Check out her video here:
Next up we have violinist Lindsey Stirling, who was first introduced to us when she competed on season 5 of America’s Got Talent in 2010 (she competed as a hip-hop violinist, which meant that she played the violin while showing dancing…yeah I’m guessing that is MUCH harder than it sounds). Lindsey then went on to blow us away on YouTube with her AMAZING covers, and original music. In her #DearMe video, Lindsey talks about how when we’re young (and occasionally when we grow up), we are very insecure, and often feel like we have to impress everybody. Lindsey says that the best way to handle this is too remember that “you would care a lot less about what people thought about you, if you knew how little they thought about you”. Which means that everybody is so insecure about their own “flaws”, that the majority of the time they’re not even thinking about your “flaws”. She also talks about how she would advice herself too not be afraid of putting yourself out there and making new friends, talking to people who you want to be more than friends with, and following your dreams, because if you try and fail, you’ll at least know instead of wondering what could have been. Lindsey would definitely know all about perseverance, because when she was voted off America’s Got Talent, the judges told her that she would “never be able to fill stadiums”, and that her style just wasn’t marketable. Obviously they were wrong, since Lindsey is now in the middle of a world tour, and billions of people have viewed her videos online.
Now we’re going to talk about a YouTuber who I wasn’t previously familiar with, but I’ve watched some of her videos, and she is AWESOME! Who is this YouTuber? Fashion/beauty guru Scherezade Shroff. Scherezade is also an actress and has modeled for numerous international campaigns, as well as has walked in numerous fashion shows. In her ‘#DearMe’ video, she says that she would tell her teenage self to “love all your imperfections”. In this video, she reveals that as a teen, she dealt with having bad skin, pressure to change her hair, eyebrows, and teeth, and also suffered from Alopecia (which is a condition that makes you start to go bald). With all of the pressure that women (and men) go through to fit a certain image of what makes a person “beautiful”, it’s nice to see a YouTuber who was able to accept her “flaws”, and actually achieve her dream of becoming a model. I think that this video really makes you think that anything is possible.
Ok, the last video that we’re going to talk about is iHasCupquake’s videos. She is a gamer, self-proclaimed “geeky baker”, and also posts DIY (Do It Yourself) videos. Some of her most popular videos are of her gaming, she is one of the few female gamers on YouTube. Attracting over 6 million subscribers, it’s fair to say she runs a popular channel. She uses gaming equipment such as professional headphones and a chair in her videos, although it’s only recently that gaming chairs have been adopted by the gaming scene. Most professional gamers, and some YouTubers, use them and Coolest Gadgets says that they are one of the best investments a gamer can make. So if you’re thinking of starting a gaming YouTube channel like iHasCupquake, then you could consider investing in some gaming equipment. Despite her popular gaming videos, she also uploaded a #DearMe video which was all about being yourself, and remembering that “You like what you like”, and that’s ok. She also brought up a really good point about surrounding yourself with good people who will lift you up, because “who you surround yourself with is a reflection of you”. I think that this is really really good advice, because if you’re around negative people then you will have A LOT of drama in your life, but if you’re around positive people, then life can be a lot easier.
Please follow all of these AMAZING YouTubers on their various social media accounts, which can be found on their YouTube channels.

Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘YouTube Wednesday’ blog post, we are going to discuss a new singer/songwriter who will definitely make a splash on the country music scene this year. Hannah Jane Lewis is an INCREDIBLE musician with the vocal ability and artistry to completely take the music industry (and your radio) by storm. In fact, in August of 2014, she was featured in an article by the Wall Street Journal, who compared her music to country music superstar Taylor Swift. She has also played gigs at the C2C Festival at the O2 Arena (in England) as an opening act for pop duo Jill and Kate. Hannah returned to the O2 Arena to play at The London Sundance Film Festival. She has also played an extended tour in association with the charity Life Skills Education, which is an organization which assists teens in learning how to deal with cyber bullying/online safety. Impressive resume so far! With several AMAZING covers and infectious original songs, you will certainly find yourself replaying Hannah’s songs for weeks. So…let’s jump into the blog post.
The first cover song that we’re going to discuss U.S. Hannah’s version of Blessed The Broken Road by Rascal Flatts (which was uploaded on July 8th, 2013 you can check out the video for this cover below). This is the first video on Hannah’s channel that I saw, and it instantly blew me away. I love that this cover shows how well she is able to control her vocals, while playing guitar (which is really hard because it involves thinking about way too many things at once). I also really enjoyed the fact that Hannah was able to show that she can emotionally connect with a song, which is an essential asset in music. This video really shows that she has the talent and heart to become a country music superstar. The next cover we’re going to talk about is Hannah’s rendition of Say You Love Me by Jessie Ware, which was uploaded on October 21st, 2014 (here’s a link to the cover: Say You Love Me – Jessie Ware (Hannah Jane Lewis Cover). Once again Hannah is able to showcase her ability to control her vocals, and we are truly able to see her capabilities as a vocalist. She also shows that she can cover a song in such a way that keeps the original vibe of the song, but also always Hannah to make it uniquely her own by adding he own style. I love that we are able to see Hannah perform a song that is in a genre other than country music (even though she KILLS it in that genre), because we’re able to see all of the layers of her artistry. Next let’s move on to Hannah’s original music!
The first original song that we’re going to talk about is Hannah’s song Seventeen Again, which is the lead single off of her debut self-titled EP (which was released on November 10th, 2013, you can check out the official music video below). This is an energetic song about looking back on life and wishing that you weren’t in such a hurry to grow up (preach girl!). This song also talks about living every moment of life to the fullest, and appreciating the beautiful things in our lives that we may take for granted. The next song we’ll going to talk about is Hannah’s song First Time Feeling, which is off of her EP Run With You, that was released on January 18th, 2015 (here’s the link to the music video Hannah Jane Lewis | First Time Feeling – Official Music Video). This is a fun song about first love, and how it can often stay with you even after it’s over. This is definitely the perfectly song to blast when your relationship ends but you don’t want to be sad (or everyone around you is tired of hearing sad songs on repeat). The majority of Hannah’s songs seem to be upbeat and fun, which is definitely a reason why you’ll want to check out both of her EPs. If you love country music that is fun, energetic, and has a lot of heart and soul in the lyrics, then you’ll definitely wanna to add these songs to your playlists.

Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘YouTube Wednesday’ we are going to discuss Corey Gray, an awesome singer/songwriter whose soulful voice and natural on-camera charisma will instantly make you fall in love. Corey Gray is a 24 year old Los Angeles based artist who moved from Dallas, Texas to California at the age of 19 to pursue fulfill his musical ambitions. According to an interview Corey did with newmediarockstars.com, he moved to California after 3 semesters at a community college in Dallas. On June 27th, 2011, Corey uploaded his first YouTube video, and officially began his YouTube journey. Corey stated in that same interview that he first discovered his love of music while participating in his elementary school’s orchestra. He then learned to play drums a few years later and began to play with local bands. He later received a guitar as a Christmas present, but admits that he too shy to sing in front of anyone until his mom forced him to sing in front of her (after hearing him singing around the house). Corey eventually booked a gig for himself at a local venue he worked at in North Dallas, and the rest as they say is history. He is now signed with independent label ‘Keep Your Soul Records’, and in the process of continuously releasing AWESOME music. So please read on and begin your obsession with Corey Gray, an artist that is on the path to a long and successful career (Merry Christmas!!!).
The first video that we’re going to discuss is Corey’s cover of ‘I’m Yours’ by Jason Mraz, which was uploaded on June 27th, 2011. I really love this video because it shows off Corey’s talents as not only a vocalist, but also an entertainer. My favorite thing about this cover is that Corey seemed to really connect to his performance, which made it more enjoyable to watch. I definitely think that this video served its’ purpose because it gave a strong introduction, and left you wanting to hear more. The next video we are going to discuss is Corey’s rendition of ‘Here Without You’ by 3 Doors Down, which was uploaded on February 10th, 2012 (you can check out the video below). My favorite thing about this particular cover is that you can really see the growth that Corey went through as an artist in such a short time. This cover really shows Corey’s level of artistry, and quickly makes you forget that this is a cover and not an original song. I also really love that Corey is able to connect to the emotion within the song’s lyrics, which makes draws in the viewer even more. The last video that we’re going to discuss is Corey’s cover of ‘Replay’ by Zendaya, which was uploaded on November 4th, 2013. This is probably one of my personal favorites, because Corey was able to alter the song in a way that better fit his style, but still kept the original vibe of the song that fans initially feel in love with. You really see the continue evolution of Corey’s artistry in this video, and his confidence as a performance leaps off the screen and leaves you unable to click away. Next up, we’re going to talk about Corey’s original music!
The first song that we’re going to talk about is entitled ‘Let Loose’, and is off of Corey’s ‘Let Loose’ EP, which was released on April 21st, 2012 (the official music video for the song was uploaded on YouTube on April 10th, 2012, you can check it out below). I thought that this would be a cool song to discuss because it’s a really fun, upbeat song that is the perfect song to turn up during a road trip. This is definitely a song that you will quickly become obsessed with, and will be replaying over and over. The last song that we’re going to discuss is called ‘Step Away’, and is off of Corey’s ‘Y.O.U.’ EP which was released on January 17th, 2014 (the official music video for this song was released to YouTube on the same day that the EP dropped ). ‘Step Away’ is an AMAZING song that has really cool, meaningful lyrics, and a great story that very relatable. This is definitely my favorite original song that Corey has released (and I think y’all will agree once you hear it)! I love that the song really shows just how much Corey has as an artist in the past 3 years. It definitely makes you excited to see what’s ahead for him, and just how much more amazing his music will become in the next few years.

Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘YouTube Wednesday’ we are going to discuss an AMAZING new YouTube musician that you all need to check out. This amazingly talented guy has been posting videos on YouTube since 2007, and is definitely one of the internet’s best kept secrets. Whether you like R&B, Pop, Rock music, or anything in between, then you WILL find a song that you love on his channel. Who am I talking about? Well if the name Leroy Sanchez does not ring a bell then y’all need to get on YouTube ASAP and check out his awesome voice (well finish reading this post and then hop on over to YouTube, ok? Ok.). So let’s dive into the blog post and discuss a little bit of Leroy’s backstory, and some of his covers that I know y’all will love (hey 385,791 subscribers can’t be wrong right?). Also, please check out Leroy’s debut single ‘Little Dancer is out NOW, and his debut album is expected to drop soon so check out Leroy’s social media accounts and/or check back here to stay updated.
Leroy Sanchez grew up in Vitoria, Spain, and according to his website has always been a singer. Because of Leroy’s love for music, he decided to cultivate his teaching himself to play the guitar and sing at a very young age. Leroy steadily grew his audience, and in 2010 (3 years after he uploaded his first video), he grabbed the attention of Grammy Award winning producer Jim Jonsin (who has previously worked with, etc.). Leroy then went to Miami for a week to work with Jim, and after staying there for a few months, Leroy was signed to Jim’s Rebel Rock label (in partnership with Interscope Records). Leroy has also shown that he is not only an extremely talented artist, but also has a very giving nature, by volunteering with the organization CoachArt (which provides chronically ill children free lessons in the arts and various sports).
The first cover we’re going to talk about is the first cover on Leroy’s channel, which is a duet of ‘Breaking Free’ from High School Musical that he uploaded on January 19th, 2007. I really loved this cover because not every artist can perform a duet as well as they can sing solo, and Leroy proves early on that he can. Based off of this cover, I am VERY excited to see the other artist that Leroy could collaborate with in the future, but I’m getting ahead of myself here. I’ve heard a lot of covers of this song on YouTube ever since High School Musical first premiered, and I have to say that this is one of my favs. What I really love about this cover is that Leroy sounds AMAZING on this cover, but in the video he is very nervous and looks a bit unsure of his talent. Honestly there is something really charming about someone who is awesome and doesn’t know it. So please click here (breaking free live leroy and elena) and check out this incredible cover that you will have on repeat all day. The next cover we are going to discuss is Leroy’s cover of ‘Bleeding Love’ by Leona Lewis, which was uploaded on December 22nd, 2009. Honestly, this is an INCREDIBLY difficult song to sing because it requires being able to perform and properly control a lot of super hard notes, as well as your breathing. On top of this, you have to properly deliver the emotion behind the song, so needless to say, not everyone can do this. But Leroy does not disappoint us, and performs this song with ease. If you watch this video and compare it to his first one, you can see A LOT of improvement, which shows just how dedicated and passionate Leroy is about his craft (you can check out the awesome video right here Bleeding love by Leona Lewis (Requested song).
The next video that we’re going to talk about is Leroy’s cover (which was uploaded on February 1st, 2012) of R&B singer’s version of the song ‘I Can’t Make You Love Me’ (which was originally released by country singer Bonnie Raitt). I really enjoyed this cover because I felt like it showed just how much diversity Leroy’s voice has. Even though he did covers of R&B songs on his channel before this, ‘I Can’t Make You Love Me’ was originally a country song with blues influences, so it’s cool to see these influences in Leroy’s voice. I really love when an artist shows that they are comfortable in various genres of music, because it shows just how deep their love for music in general is, and ultimately makes their solo projects more interesting because of all of the various influences that sneak into the songs. Just like ‘Bleeding Love’, this is also another song that can’t be sung correctly if the artist does not properly connect with the emotions of the lyrics. If you haven’t checked out this cover, click here ( Can’t Make You Love Me – Bonnie Raitt (Tank’s version) by Leroy). There are a lot of other really awesome covers that y’all should check out (trust me once you get to his channel you will want to listen to all of his covers on repeat)! The finally video that we are going to discuss is Leroy’s official music video for his debut single ‘Little Dancer’ (which was uploaded on April 29th, 2014, and you can check out here Leroy Sanchez – Little Dancer). I really feel like this is a really cool debut single for Leroy because the song is an emotional ballad that has a really inspirational message about following your dreams. The song tells the story of a young girl who dreams of becoming a dancer, but allows obstacles and fear to stand in her way. I think that this is definitely a message that we can all relate to, and the video is extremely well shot. This video really makes me excited to see what other songs and videos that Leroy will release in the future! So as I’m sure y’all have already figured out, Leroy Sanchez is an artist on the rise that you don’t want to miss out on!
All photos and information used in this blog belong to Leroy Sanchez, YouTube, VEVO, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, SoundCloud, Tumblr, ITunes, Google +, the city of Vitoria, the country of Spain, Jim Jonsin, Rebel Rock, Interscope Records, Beyoncé, Lil Wayne, Usher, T.I., CoachArt, Leona Lewis, Syco Records, High School Musical, Elena, Disney Channel, Bonnie Raitt, Tank, bardotmiami.com, and all other original owners. Hello, people of the internet!!! Today’s ‘Monday Memos’ is going to be a little different than the normal blogs that I usually post. As I’m sure many of you know I am a huge fan of Music. Even when I was a kid, I remember my parents playing me songs like the Balloon Song to keep me entertained. That’s not the sort of music I listen to now, but you get what I mean. Music has been a big part of my life even from a young age. Anyway, I literally spend all day with my headphones on, so I thought why not write a quick story, and insert music into it. Basically this is what I imagine a person’s day might be if we all had theme music automatically inserted into our days. It’s meant to be a funny blog post, so I hope y’all enjoy it. Ready? Let’s go!
You wake up in the morning and realize it’s time for school (boo!!!), then you remember that school means hanging out with friends, stalking…I mean talking/wishing you could talk to that special someone that has no idea you exists, oh and there’s that thing called homework or something that everyone keeps saying you should do but it can’t be that important right? So you get up and start singing in the shower, pick out an AWESOME outfit, do your hair and makeup, take a look in the mirror and think “I wish that I could be like the cool kids”. But what the other kids might think or say doesn’t matter because you’re just gonna shake it off. Ok, so now you’re off to school. Great now we’re at school, let the learning begin! (yay?) Ok so school has been ok so far, now it’s lunch time! Oh know there goes that guy you like, quick don’t look! Oh he saw you; well what are you waiting on? Wave! Not frantically like you’re insane…maybe he didn’t notice?!? Oh no, his mean girlfriend did. Great. Well just go sit down with your friends. Maybe they didn’t notice you. Wait, why wouldn’t they notice you? You’re awesome! Well that’s what everyone keeps saying. That girl is so mean to everyone, why is he even with her? Seriously sometimes you just want to scream,” You Belong With Me”!!!! She always makes fun of you because you’re shy and maybe even stutter a little bit. So what if you’re not the most popular or confident person ever. That’s ok right? Wait maybe people don’t like shy? Maybe you need to be louder and more noticeable. But who care what they think right. Right? Then you start thinking “Am I Wrong”? Do I really need to change? Oh no that cute guy is coming. Is he going to laugh at how you waved at him? Quick! Hide!!! Too late he’s here. Ok act casual, act cool, please stop it with that goofy smile. Ok he’s talking, so far so good. Ok, he just wanted to tell you hi because you didn’t see him wave back. Oh and now he’s leaving. Aww that was nice. It’s not fair for someone to be that nice and good looking. One of these days you know you’re just going to say “that’s what makes you beautiful”, then he’ll realize that you’re perfect together and you’re have that fairytale love story that everyone keeps saying is impossible. Yeah it will be perfect! And now the bell rings…ok back to reality. Yeah after all those classes school is over for today! Let’s go crazy, let’s get a tattoo…ok maybe not that crazy. Let’s go home and watch YouTube. Ok well that was 3 hours well spent. You know what time it is now? Netflix time!!! Gotta love Zac Efron and Channing Tatum. Ok time for bed. Makeup is off; pajamas are on, now time for some music and a few hours of looking on Twitter and Instagram. 5 hours well spent. You know what? Who cares what other people think? Yeah YOU ARE AWESOME! You don’t have to try so hard. Right? Right! Yeah, because you really don’t care! Ok, nice talk. Time to go to sleep. Goodnight!
As you can tell, it’s not a serious blog, and I also focused more on lyrics and title from songs that fit the story, instead of what the songs are actually talking about. Anyway with that in mind, I hope y’all enjoyed the story and if this is something that you like, maybe I can write a part 2 in the future!

Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘YouTube Wednesday’ blog, I want to introduce you to a phenomenal up and coming pop singer named Tyler Layne. I recently discovered Tyler on Twitter (I really owe you on Twitter!), and he really impressed me. At such a young age, Tyler already has the artistry, musicianship, and natural talent of a professional much older than him. I am really excited to share this artist’s music with you all, and I know that you will quickly become as obsessed with him as I am. I will warn you now, that once you hear Tyler Layne’s voice, you will definitely spend the majority of your time listening to his covers and original music. Ok so are you guys ready to be introduced to your latest musical addiction!?! Ladies and Gentlemen I give you Tyler Lane!!!
Tyler Layne was born in Portsmouth, VA and discovered his love of entertaining at the ripe old age of 4, when he began singing in his church’s choir. By the age of 5, Tyler was a soloist in his choir, and his love of music continued to flourish. Only two years later at the age of 7, Tyler began to astonish crowds at local festivals and community events. At the age of 8, Tyler began professional training in piano, voice, and acting. This training made the already naturally gifted entertainer an even stronger performer, which became a huge asset for Tyler when he became the youngest member of the group RD7, after impressing judges related to Radio Disney. As a part of this group, Tyler was given the opportunity to tour with numerous famous musical acts such as: Raven Symone, The Cheetah Girls, The Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, and American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson. After Tyler’s time as a part of RD7 was completed, Tyler founded other groups called Seven5Seven and Brooke and Tyler. The experience and public recognition that Tyler gained by participating in these groups led him to feel confident enough to continue his career as a solo artist.
On January 18th, 2012 Tyler posted his first YouTube video, which was a cover of Rihanna’s hit track ‘We Found Love’. Tyler had no idea that posting this video would snowball into the opportunity to share his music on a much larger scale. Tyler has continued to post videos of himself singing hit songs from popular artists such as: Katy Perry, Adele, One Direction, Hunter Hayes, Imagine Dragons, Bruno Mars, etc. As if Tyler’s vocal ability was not impressive enough, he has also used his YouTube platform as an opportunity to demonstrate his phenomenal guitar, piano, and songwriting skills. Tyler released his first original song on YouTube, on January 28th, 2012 entitled ‘Dear Julia’. This track is a piano driven ballad, which was certainly an early indicator of Tyler’s advance skills as a writer, which is an increasingly more important commodity for artists to have. Tyler made a music video to accompany this single, and was able to show his acting talent through the video’s emotionally charged lyrical content. Tyler’s next original song was a fun, high energy track which featured pop-rock band Everlife. The video contained numerous photos of Tyler’s performances throughout the years, and really showed just how seasoned the young entertainer was at that point. Tyler has released 3 additional original songs, which are entitled ‘Over the World’, ‘Ms. Perfect’, and his latest single ‘Boom Boom’ (all of these songs are currently available on ITunes, so I would suggest you go pick them up…after you read this blog of course! And for all of you remix lovers out there, ‘Boom Boom’ has been remixed, and it is AMAZING!!!!).
Tyler’s latest two singles (‘Ms. Perfect’ and ‘Boom Boom’), showed an evolution for him as an artist, due to the videos’ production quality, and the videos’ storylines. In ‘Ms. Perfect’, Tyler demonstrates that he can not only sing and act, but can also control a stage, and dance (seriously how can one person be so talented!). Although I love Tyler’s other music videos and his live covers, I feel that the Ms. Perfect video showed the audience his fun personality, which only makes you fall even more in love with his talent. My favorite video is definitely the ‘Boom Boom’ video, just because the song is amazing, and the video itself makes you want to get up and dance (seriously, how do I get invited to a Tyler Layne house party!?!). I can definitely see this song become a huge radio hit, and an infectious summer time song, that will have us dancing for years to come.
Since Tyler posted his first video in early 2012, the young entertainer’s talent as a musician, vocalist, songwriter, actor, and all around amazing entertainer has taken center stage. You can see Tyler’s growth through his videos, and it seems that he has nowhere to go but up. In the past few months, Tyler has had many phenomenal accomplishments, which include becoming a partner with YouTube super channel VEVO (also home to artists such as One Direction, Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, John Legend, and just about any popular artist imaginable. This is also where you can find Tyler’s music video for ‘Boom Boom’). Other accomplishments that Tyler has had are his sponsorships with Peace Tea, Sodiem Clothing, and Giannini Guitars. However, arguably Tyler’s largest accomplishment to date is signing with the record label ‘Blow Me A Bubble Records’. In this day and age, the competition to secure a record deal is cut throat, so for an artist to sign a deal is a HUGE accomplishment. Make sure you catch Tyler on ‘the Fanatics tour’, which began on January 11th, 2014, and continues through July 26th (I believe that Tyler will be performing on all of the tour dates, but make sure you check the website here (the FANatics tour | Showcasing up and coming talent) to see if he is performing in your city…there are also A Lot of other amazing acts on the tour, so I highly suggest that you check it out!).
As for Tyler’s future, I definitely see this shinning light only getting brighter with time. Although Tyler’s original music has been primary pop, I can definitely see him crossing over into music that has a more soul vibe to it. I think that Tyler’s natural vocal talent is very unique, and his determination and persistence to constantly become better at his crafts will certainly set him apart from current mainstream radio artists. I see big things on the horizon for Tyler, and definitely think he will soon become a household name and eventually a worldwide phenomenon. With an entertainer like Tyler, there are no limitations, and I am very excited to see what amazing project this modern day Renaissance man produces next.
Do you want to stay connected with Tyler? Here’s how:

Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘Monday Memos’, we are going to do an ‘Artist Spotlight’ on the AMAZING performer Bruno Mars. Ready? Let’s get started! Over the years, there have been many artists who start out from the bars in Los Angeles and enter the music industry with talent and charisma, who instantly steal our hearts and souls. However, every once in a while, an entertainer emerges who is so phenomenally special, that they rise above the others, and leave us in awe of their musical abilities, Bruno Mars is one of these entertainers. Bruno Mars (whose real name is Peter Hernandez) was born on October 8th, 1985 in Honolulu, HI. At the tender age of two, he began performing throughout Hawaii, and by four he was performing shows five nights a week. Bruno has stated that his father moved to Hawaii from Brooklyn and began a group called ‘The Love Notes’, who sang 1950’s doo-wop and did impressions of Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Elvis Presley. As a young boy, Bruno began performing with this group, and did an Elvis impression. After he completed high school, Bruno moved to Los Angeles, CA in order to continue his musical pursuits.
Upon moving to Los Angeles, Bruno worked with many undiscovered artists, such as Ne-Yo (who later wrote a hit song for the artist Mario, and has since become a huge star as well). Bruno has stated that he learned the importance of songwriting by watching how Ne-Yo wrote music. Bruno realized at that moment that he wanted to learn how to properly write songs, in order to (as he has stated to ’Vibe Magazine’), “…be respected for the songs that I write.” Bruno worked on his writing skills, and at the age of 18, he received a recording contract with the legendary ‘Motown Records’. Unfortunately, Bruno was later released from his contract due to creative differences, and he moved back to LA and continued to pursue his musical ambitions. He soon began working with songwriters/producers Phillip Lawrence and Ari Levine, and the trio soon became a highly sought after team called ‘The Smeezingtons’. Bruno soon began writing songs for popular artists, and in 2006, he met with Aaron Bay-Schuck (who at the time had just left his A&R position at Epic Records). Aaron (who later became Bruno’s manager); soon took a job at Atlantic Records, and wanted to sign Bruno immediately. However, Atlantic Records thought that Bruno was not ready yet, so Aaron kept The Smeezingtons on as songwriters and producers for the label. In 2009, Bruno was finally signed by Atlantic Records as a solo artist, and immediately began writing hits for artists such as Travie McCoy, Flo Rida, and B.O.B (Bruno lent his vocals to Travie McCoy’s song ‘Billionaire’, and B.O.B.’s song ‘Nothin on You’, which was his first real exposure as a solo artist).
In May of 2010 Bruno released his E.P ‘It’s Better If You Don’t Understand’, which peaked at #99 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart. In August of the same year, Bruno co-wrote Cee Lo Green’s hit track ‘Forget You’, which was a huge hit for both artist (although Bruno did not sing on the track). Bruno’s debut full length album ‘Doo-Wops & Hooligans’ was released in October of 2010, peaked at #3 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart (and also peaked extremely high in numerous other countries, causing the record to be a vast improvement from his EP). Doo-Wops & Hooligans received a total of seven Grammy nominations in 2011 & 2012, and won in 2011 for ‘Best Pop Vocal Performance for the single ‘Just the Way You Are’. In 2012, Bruno released his second album ‘Unorthodox Jukebox’, which peaked at #1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, and garnered Bruno five Grammy nominations in 2013. Bruno’s music has earned him international fame, and has been used in numerous commercials, as well as covered on the popular U.S musical-comedy ‘Glee’. Bruno is scheduled to perform at the halftime show of the 2014 U.S. Super Bowl, and honestly is most likely going to put on an amazing show.
As you can see, Bruno has had a very long road to achieve his fame and acclaim as a vocalist/songwriter/producer. Although he his past three years have been phenomenal, I think that 2014 is definitely going to be Bruno’s golden year. I anticipate him doing very well at the Grammys, and possibly even releasing another album by the end of this year, or in early 2015 (and we all know when he does release another album, it’s going to be musical perfection). Honestly, the Super Bowl Halftime Show is arguably the biggest event for an artist to perform at, thus Bruno’s invitation to perform there, proves that he is now recognized as one of the top musicians, currently in the industry. I anticipate that Bruno will only become more famous and will one day become a musical icon, just like the artists that he idolized as a young boy in Hawaii.

Hello people of the internet, for today’s ‘YouTube Wednesday’ blog I am going to introduce you all to your newest pop-punk obsession…7 Minutes in Heaven. The mastermind behind 7 Minutes in Heaven is the amazingly talented Timmy Rasmussen. This pop-punk band is very close to exploding all over your radio, so if you want to be ahead of the curve, continue reading. Ok are you ready?! Then let’s get started.
Timmy Rasmussen is a 20 year old musician (as of 2013) from Battle Ground, WA (I know that is such a cool name for a town!). He began 7 Minutes in Heaven in December of 2011, and the music originally had a very acoustic tone. Timmy initially released a Christmas EP through PureVolume (a website where aspiring musicians can showcase their work…here’s a link to 7 Minutes in Heaven’s page: 7 Minutes in Heaven on PureVolume). The Christmas EP received a lot positive feedback, and this inspired Timmy to move to Des Plaines, IL in order to seek more opportunities to share his music. After relocating, he released a track titled ‘Undercover Lovers’, which according to 7 Minutes in Heaven’s Facebook page had an unintentional “rad 80’s” feel to it. I completely agree with this statement due to the fact that this song has a touch of a synthesizer sound to it, which is certainly reminiscent of the early to mid 1980’s. I like this track because it not only has a cool throwback element to it, but it instantly grabs the listener’s attention, and leads you wanted to hear more. The next track he released was a fun tune entitled ‘Strike Three’. This song (which was an old track that was remastered for fans), certainly shows 7 Minutes in Heaven’s roots. Although the remastered version of this song has numerous instruments and very good production on it, you can certainly hear the original acoustic tone of the song, which shows how Timmy was able to flawlessly transition 7 Minutes in Heaven’s original sound into a more pop-punk sound (which is the musical direction Timmy eventually wanted to go in).
The first true pop-punk track that 7 Minutes in Heaven released was the infectious song ‘California’, which was released digitally on July 16th, 2012 (7 Minutes in Heaven – California – YouTube). This song is the perfect tune to add to your summer road trip playlist, or to remind you of that special summer love. I have been playing this song non-stop for the past few weeks, and I have to say that it becomes more addicted each time you play it. On March 8th, 2013, the band’s first original record ‘Get in the Van!’ was released, and I have to say that it is honestly one of my favorite albums of 2013. The songs are all super catchy, and the sound is very reminiscent of late 90’s-early 2000’s punk/alternative rock. If you’re a fan of Blink-182 or Simple Plan, then you will definitely like this record. One aspect of this album that I found particularly interesting was the name of track # 2 entitled #SorryNotSorry. I really loved the use of a hashtag (the name of this symbol: #) in the track’s title, because it is a play on this popular twitter feature, which I believe will really resonate with 7 Minutes in Heaven’ younger fans. Every song on this record is good enough to currently be on the radio, so I would suggest buying the entire album, because you will not regret it. Although this band is currently unsigned, I see big things on the horizon for 7 Minutes in Heaven. I can certainly see this band’s songs on constant radio rotation and with fans worldwide. If you haven’t already heard of this emerging super band, become familiar with them now, so you can say that you knew about them first!
Here are some links so you can connect and stay informed with what’s going on with 7 Minutes in Heaven.
