Monday Memos: The 2016 Pantone Color of the Year is all about breaking gender stereotypes

Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘Monday Memos’ we’re going to talk about the official color (or should I say colors) of 2016. If2016 color of the year you love pink and blue then get ready to be very happy because the official colors of 2016 are Rose Quartz (which is a hue of pink), and Serenity (which is a blue). According to the Pantone website, this is the 1st time that 2 colors have been choose as the official color of the year. So if you want to learn why these really cute colors were chosen then keep reading. Ready? Ok, let’s go!!!

According to the Pantone website, “Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace”. The website goes on to describe the colors as the following: “Rose Quartz is a persuasive yet gentle tone that conveys compassion and a sense of composure. Serenity is weightless and airy, like the expanse of the blue sky above us, bringing feelings of respite and relaxation even in turbulent times.” I’m really excited to see what beauty and fashion trends will be inspired by these colors! Pantone’s website also says that it chose these colors in order to show how fashion is blurring gender lines by not stereotyping one color as more appropriate for a specific gender (which basically means blue is no longer “only” for boys, and pink is no longer “only” for girls). I think that this is a very cool idea because the fashion and beauty industry is increasingly becoming more and more diverse so it seems only right that the color(s) of the year reflect that. Needless to say 2016 is off to a great start, and will definitely give us so much to look forward to and even more to put on Instagram and Pinterest. I can’t wait! What do you think people of the internet? Let me know in the comments below!

RawSpiceBar is a service that sends you 3 regional species every month, includes recipes of dishes (which feed 4-6 people) that you can use each of the spices in, and tells you a brief history of the region that the spices originate from, all for a mere $6 per month (you can also get a prepaid subscription for 6 months for $36 or 1 year for $66 which means that with this option you get 1 month free, gotta love that!). The spices that I will be reviewing today were from the features spices for the month of November, and were for Ethiopian dishes. The three spices that I received were Berbere, Ethiopian Mitmita, and Pumpkin Pie Spice. Berbere is spicy and smoky addition that really gives the food a rich flavor. Personally I am a huge fan of spicy food, so this is now one of my favorite spices. You can use this spice with various soups, meats, poultry, as a rub on roast chicken or vegetables, and stirred into oil and vinegar as an awesome new dip, so the possibilities for delicious new dishes with these spice are endless. Don’t worry if you’re not a big fan of spicy food, because Berbere is a little spicy, but not unbearable, and definitely brings out the flavor of the dish in a new and exciting way. Next up we have the Ethiopian Mitmita spice! Now this is a very hot and spicy addition to any dish, that will definitely require you to have a drink nearby. Although this spice is seriously hot, it really makes a great addition to any meat stews, grilled meats, or as a replacement for hot sauce. Like I’ve previously said, the Ethiopian Mitmita spice is really hot, but I would give it a try because you seriously have never had flavor explode onto your taste buds like this before. Lastly we’re going to talk about the Pumpkin Pie Spice. Now I know what you’re thinking how different can this Pumpkin Pie Spice be from every other Pumpkin Pie Spiced food I’m eating/drinking during this time of the year. well trust me when I say that you have NEVER had Pumpkin Pie Spice that was this good! The cinnamon in it will seriously make you feel like baking dozens of cookies, and the blend is sweet but not overly sweet so it’s perfect for coffee, tea, or any Raw Spice Bar Pic 1baked good you can think of. If you want to kick off the holiday season right, this is the spice to get you in the perfect mood.

To wrap everything up, all of these spices were seriously great and I give them all 5 smiley faces (because you know smiley faces are more fun than stars). If the spices for November were so amazing, I can’t wait to see what the next featured spices will be! If you want a unique culinary experience every month than this subscription is a must have for you, and it also makes a great gift for any chefs in the family. I never promote any products that I don’t follow believe in so trust me when I say that $6 a month is a small price to pay for these incredible spices. So subscribe to RawSpiceBar today and get ready to have all the bragging rights at any holiday party this year!

The next video that we’re going to talk about is Victoria’s ‘Tiger Halloween Makeup Tutorial’, which was uploaded on October 28th, 2014 (you can check out the video below). Let me start off by saying that this is one of the coolest makeup videos that you’ll ever see! YouTube Wednesday: The AMAZING channel that teaches you “How To Cook That”

Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘YouTube Wednesday’ we’re going to talk about everybody’s FAVORITE how to cook thatsubject…food! I thought that it would be cool to mix it up today (with a channel you may or may not already be familiar with) and discuss an AMAZING YouTube channel called ‘How To Cook That’ (featuring the culinary genius Ann Reardon), where you will learn how to make the coolest desserts ever. Whether you’re a pro in the kitchen, or you burn cereal (it’s ok, you can admit it…yup you right there…moving on…), you’ll love all the recipes on this channel. So now let’s get to the deliciousness! Just a quick note, some of these desserts are easier to make than others, so if you don’t see a video in this post that grabs your interest, check out the rest of the channel, and I’m sure you’ll find something awesome. Ready? Ok, then let’s go!!!

The first video that we’re going to talk about is the ‘Easy Macaroon Recipe’ video, which was uploaded on April 24th, 2012. I thought that this was a good video for us to kick this post off with because macaroons are a really popular dessert right now, so this is a great video to watch if you want to impress all your friends with this sweet treat. The video is very easy to follow, and you even learn how to fix common mistakes that may happen when trying to make this dessert. You got love a video that this user friendly and kind to culinary newbies. Ok, next up we have the ‘Mickey Mouse Cupcakes’, which was uploaded on February 15th, 2013 (you can check out the video below). Now this recipe is a little more time consuming, but once again the video is very easy to follow. What I loved most about this video is that you not only learn how to make really cool (and edible) Mickey decorations, but you also end up with the Mickey head symbol IN the cupcake. How cool is that!!! This is the PERFECT recipe for a class party, or if you just want a really cool dessert that will make you look awesome.

Now we’re going to talk about the ‘YouTube play button cake’, which was uploaded on May 23rd, 2014. This definitely looks like a difficult dessert to make (because there are A LOT of steps), but as always the video is detailed enough so you probably won’t get lost. I just thought that this was SUCH a cool video that is definitely worth trying out. Also, what would a ‘YouTube Wednesday’ post be if we didn’t include a YouTube themed cake. This is another dessert that is beautiful and delicious so you gotta love art that you can eat. Right? Right! Ok, the final video that we’re going to talk about is the ‘Inside Out Cake’ video, which was uploaded on August 14th, 2015 (you can check out the video below). Now don’t be intimidated by how the cake looks, because the video actually explains the process in such great detail, that it actually seems like something you can replicate. This recipe is time consuming, but if you can do it, then you will definitely be master of the birthday cake, because this cake is SO AMAZING. Also, the characters on the top of the cake are toys so you don’t have to worry about embracing your inner Picasso by trying to make the characters yourself. If you love cake, desserts with A LOT of sugar, the movie Inside Out, or all of the above, then you GOTTA try out this recipe!

YouTube Wednesday: Clarissa May…the rising YouTube star that you will spend all your time obsessing over

Hello people of the Internet!!! On today’s ‘YouTube Wednesday’, we’re going to look at a rising YouTube star that you’ll clarissa mayinstantly want to subscribe to. Clarissa May is a 15 year old beauty/fashion/DIY guru and dancer. Along with her beauty channel, she also has a dance channel called Live On Pointe, where she posts Q&As, tutorials, demonstrations, and a lots of other cool things related to dance (definitely check this channel out too). What I like most about Clarissa’s beauty/fashion channel, is that she really shows off her creativity with her channel, and constantly pushes the quality of her videos to higher and higher limits. So…now let’s get to the videos! Ready? Let’s go!!!

The first video we’re going to talk about is Clarissa’s ‘Get Ready With Me Photoshoot’, video which was uploaded on August 30th, 2014. I love how Clarissa explains her process step by step so it’s easy to replicate this look. This is a really good video to check out if you want to find a new look for any upcoming events such as graduation, or a party. Ok, the next video we’re going to talk about is Clarissa’s ‘DIY Starbucks Frappuccino Costume’, which was uploaded on October 26th, 2014 (you can check out the video below). I think y’all will really LOVE this video because it’s really creative and inexpensive to make. Another good thing about this costume idea is you can customize it to fit your individual style, and you can look cute for any selfies that the day brings (and if you take a selfie holding a Starbucks drink that’s the same as your costume then you can bring a new meaning to the #twinning!).

The next video we’re going to discuss is Clarissa’s ‘Silver Smokey Eye for Beginners’, which was uploaded on February 19th, 2015. Now if you’re like A LOT of us, we’ll, smokey eyes lead to issues. I mean what’s worse than spending all these time struggling to make your eyes look awesome and then someone asks “why do you have two black eyes” (#epicfail). The final video that we’re going to talk about is the Clarissa’s ‘Pinterest in Real Life’, which was uploaded on May 1st, 2015 (you can check out the video below). I thought that this was a fun change from the usual videos we discuss because it’s a really funny, comedic video. The video explains what happens sometimes, when we try and fail to mimic stuff we see on Pinterest. It’s a really funny video that’s honestly not only hilarious, but so relatable.

Monday Memos: The theme songs of your life

Hello people of the internet!!! Today’s ‘Monday Memos’ is going to be a little different than the normal blogs that I usually post. As I’m sure many of you know I am a huge fan of Music. I literally spend all day with my headphones on, so I thought why not write a quick story, and insert music into it. Basically this is what I imagine a person’s day might be if we all had theme music automatically inserted into our days. It’s meant to be a funny blog post, so hope y’all enjoy. Ready? Let’s go!

You wake up in the morning and realize it’s time for school (boo!!!), then you remember that school means hanging out with friends, stalking…I mean talking/wishing you could talk to that special someone that has no idea you exists, oh and there’s that thing called homework or something that everyone keeps saying you should do but it can’t be that important right? So you get up and start singing in the shower, pick out an AWESOME outfit, do your hair and makeup, take a look in the mirror and think “I wish that I could be like the cool kids”. But what the other kids might think or say doesn’t matter because you’re just gonna shake it off. Ok, so now you’re off to school. Great now we’re at school, let the learning begin! (yay?) Ok so school has been ok so far, now it’s lunch time! Oh know there goes that guy you like, quick don’t look! Oh he saw you; well what are you waiting on? Wave! Not frantically like you’re insane…maybe he didn’t notice?!? Oh no, his mean girlfriend did. Great. Well just go sit down with your friends. Maybe they didn’t notice you. Wait, why wouldn’t they notice you? You’re awesome! Well that’s what everyone keeps saying. That girl is so mean to everyone, why is he even with her? Seriously sometimes you just want to scream,” You Belong With Me”!!!! She always makes fun of you because you’re shy and maybe even stutter a little bit. So what if you’re not the most popular or confident person ever. That’s ok right? Wait maybe people don’t like shy? Maybe you need to be louder and more noticeable. But who care what they think right. Right? Then you start thinking “Am I Wrong”? Do I really need to change? Oh no that cute guy is coming. Is he going to laugh at how you waved at him? Quick! Hide!!! Too late he’s here. Ok act casual, act cool, please stop it with that goofy smile. Ok he’s talking, so far so good. Ok, he just wanted to tell you hi because you didn’t see him wave back. Oh and now he’s leaving. Aww that was nice. It’s not fair for someone to be that nice and good looking. One of these days you know you’re just going to say “that’s what makes you beautiful”, then he’ll realize that you’re perfect together and you’re have that fairytale love story that everyone keeps saying is impossible. Yeah it will be perfect! And now the bell rings…ok back to reality. Yeah after all those classes school is over for today! Let’s go crazy, let’s get a tattoo…ok maybe not that crazy. Let’s go home and watch YouTube. Ok well that was 3 hours well spent. You know what time it is now? Netflix time!!! Gotta love Zac Efron and Channing Tatum. Ok time for bed. Makeup is off; pajamas are on, now time for some music and a few hours of looking on Twitter and Instagram. 5 hours well spent. You know what? Who cares what other people think? Yeah YOU ARE AWESOME! You don’t have to try so hard. Right? Right! Yeah, because you really don’t care! Ok, nice talk. Time to go to sleep. Goodnight!

As you can tell, it’s not a serious blog, and I also focused more on lyrics and title from songs that fit the story, instead of what the songs are actually talking about. Anyway with that in mind, I hope y’all enjoyed the story and if this is something that you like, maybe I can write a part 2 in the future!
