Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘YouTube Wednesday’ we are going to feature Andy Kirka aka RUNAGROUND, a phenomenal singer/songwriter/producer that you will be obsessing over! This is a channel that you HAVE to subscribe to, because regardless of your personal music tastes, you will find covers that you will be replaying all day. It’s rare that you find a musician that can take any song and make it sound original while also keeping the elements that originally made the song a hit. So now let’s get to the music! Ready? Ok, let’s go!!!
The first song that we’re going to talk about is RUNAGROUND’s live cover of ‘Set Fire To The Rain’ by Adele, which was uploaded on August 2nd, 2012. I thought that this was an amazing cover to kick tings off with, because we really get to see Andy’s powerful vocals. Needless to say, one of the most important rules of YouTube is that you HAVE to make a great first impression. This cover not only mesmerizes you, but leaves you wanting more. Ok, now let’s move on to RUNAGROUND’s cover of ‘Impossible’, which you can check out below (the James Arthur rendition, which is different than the song’s original version by R&B singer Shontelle), which was uploaded on January 21st, 2013. This cover does a really awesome job of showing Andy’s artistic talent, by displaying that he can fully connect to the emotions of a song. In this video you can really feel the venerability of the song’s lyrics, and Andy does a cool job of mixing the soulfulness of the original version of this song, with a cool punk pop edge that makes this rendition very unique.
Now we’re going to talk about RUNAGROUND’s cover of ‘Take Your Time’ by Sam Hunt, which was uploaded on December 29th, 2014. This cover really showed Andy’s talent as a performer, and since we already know that he’s an amazing vocalist, it was really cool to hear his rapping skills. This cover will really make you excited to see how RUNAGROUND’s sound changed in the future. The last video that we’re going to talk about is RUNAGROUND’s official music video for their original song ‘Solace’, which was uploaded on August 21st, 2014 (you can check it out below). This is a really beautifully shot video that has cool camera angles, and really keeps your attention from start to finish. The song is really catchy, and will stay at the top of all of your playlists this fall. It’s so cool to see RUNAGROUNDS original music, since we originally fell in love with the band’s covers. It’s great to see this band’s growth, and will leave you waiting to see what this awesome band does next.
Keep up with everything RUNAGROUND is doing:

The band is comprised of Anna Rauch-Sassen,(vocals), Erin Rauch-Sassen (guitar), Katie Rauch-Sassen (keyboard), Matthew Langer, and Jamie DiTringo. With their debut album ‘Run KoKo’ dropping later this summer, this is the band that you NEED to know about now, before all your friends become obsessed with them. Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘YouTube Wednesday’, we are going to discuss a rising boy band that you will all fangirl and fanboy over! If you love bands such as: ‘One Direction’, ‘5 Seconds of Summer’, and ‘The Vamps’, then you’ll love ‘The Boy Band Project’! This group of young vocalists has everything I takes to become a successful group: talent, drive, and the unwavering love of their fans. Once I saw their videos, I as instantly addicted, and have been watching all of their INCREDIBLE covers on repeat (and you will too once you see them). If you’re not already a fan of this rising band, then you HAVE to check out the rest of this blog post, so when you’re friends all become obsessed with ‘The Boy Band Project’ (and trust me they will) then you will already know all about everyone’s latest YouTube obsession.
The first cover that we are going to discuss is their cover of ‘Give Me Love’ by Ed Sheeran, which was uploaded on July 24th, 2014 (here’s a link to the video ). I thought that this was an AMAZING first cover for the band, because it’s a song that really gives them an opportunity to show off their vocal skills. This is a difficult song for anyone to sing, because Ed Sheeran is an amazing vocalist who sets a very high bar with this song. I was really happy to see that ‘The Boy Band Project’ was able to rise to the challenge, and make a really awesome cover. This is one of my favorite Ed Sheeran songs, so I’ve heard A LOT of covers of this song, and honestly none of them were as good as this cover. I was so impressed and y’all will be too. Next up we have the band’s cover of ‘I’ll Never Break Your Heart’ by the Backstreet Boys, which was uploaded on September 11th, 2014 (link to the video is here: ). I was really excited to hear this cover because I am a huge ‘Backstreet Boys’ fan (you know you are too!). This is another difficult song to sing (gotta love a band that isn’t afraid of a challenge), and they decided to make it every more challenging by singing the song A Capella. Honestly singing is heard enough because everyone has to make sure their harmonies are as close to perfect as possible, and of one person is slightly off then the whole group sounds bad, then when you add the difficulty of having your pure vocals in the spotlight, without any music to help or mask imperfections…well you can see where how this could be difficult. However, the band proves that it really can handle any song and circumstance, by doing an AMAZING cover of this song that I’ve listened to over and over again (it’s just so incredible!).This is definitely the perfect video to prove to everyone that this band is a group of legitimately talented vocalists, and not just a band of pretty faces (even though they have that going for them too). Ok the final cover that we are going to talk about is the band’s rendition of One Direction’s song ‘Steal My Girl’, which was uploaded November 28th, 2014 ( the video link is here ). This was a really cool cover because it felt more like a music video than a regular cover. You saw clips of the band recording, performing, and having fun with the camera. It was really fun to see the guys’ personalities shine through, and makes you fall even more in love with them. You also got to see that their fans love them, and that they definitely share the love right back!
Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘Monday Memos’ we have a very cool interview with rising singer/songwriter Meghann Wright. In this y’all will learn a little more about Meghann’s music, which artists have influenced her, and what words of advice she has for all of YOU (If you haven’t read my first blog about Meghann, then check it out here ). So please enjoy the interview, and remember to purchase Meghann’s self-titled EP on ITunes.
Celinda: Hi Meghann, so to start things off, what/who initially sparked your interest in pursuing a career in music?
Meghann: Well, I grew up in a very musical family. My parents were always playing, singing or taking us to concerts. It just seemed like a natural part of life, like eating or sleeping.
Celinda: So was there a specific moment in your career when you knew that you
wanted to pursue music?
Meghann: When my band ‘Running With Karma’ broke up, I realized I wanted music to be
my career and that if I wanted to get anywhere I would have to pursue it
on my own and establish myself as a serious musician, not just a member of
Celinda: Numerous artists such as Frank Sinatra, Alicia Keys, and Jay-Z have
described New York as a city of great inspiration and influence in reguard
to their songwriting, how do you feel that living in New York has
influenced your music?
Meghann: I would not have been able to write any of the music I make now without
the experience of living in New York. It can beat you down, but it is also
magical because so many people of all walks of life come to New York to
make something of themselves. It’s fascinating and inspiring. It truly is
my adopted home. Whenever I return to NY from being away, the skyline
fills me with love.
Celinda: That is really interesting. So, I really love that your sound is influenced by a variety of genres and artists, however which artist/bands would you say have had the greatest
influence on your music?
Meghann: Tom Petty and Dolly Parton have influenced my songwriting style, but I have
drawn influence from everything from post emo indie rock to jazz.
Celinda: Those are really interesting influences, so who are some other artists/bands that have influenced your music that might surprise your fans?
Meghann: Well, I grew up playing saxophone and I think my melodic approach and vocal
timbre were influenced by that a lot.
Celinda: That is so cool! If you could go on a dream tour with any artists/bands, who would you want to
Meghann: I would put together a crazy traveling festival like ‘The Good Times With
Bad People’ Tour I am currently on, and it would feature all of my friends’
bands regardless of their genre.
Celinda: That sounds like it would be such a tour. So where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Meghann: I hope to have a successful music career either writing, performing or
both. I could also see myself running a small indie label.
Celinda: Thank you so much for taking the time to do this interview Meghann, lastly is there anything else you’d like to add for any of your fans who are reading this interview?
Meghann: Never give up on yourself, no matter what anyone says. You have to be your
own biggest cheerleader, fan, quarterback, and whatever other sports
metaphor you can come up with. People don’t believe in you till you
believe in yourself. As my friends the Green Gallows say, “keep your head
held high and stomp the beat.”
Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘Monday Memos’ we are going to discuss an AMAZING singer/songwriter, that I can’t wait for y’all to fall in love with (because trust me, you will become addicted to her music VERY soon!). This artist’s voice is so diverse that it doesn’t matter if you like pop, indie, country, or any genre in between, you WILL find something you like about her music. So get familiar with the name Meghann Wright now, because I guarantee that she will not remain music’s best kept secret for much longer. So if y’all are ready, please read on and learn all about Meghann now, before your friends beat you.
Now that you know a little about Meghann, let’s talk about some of her music. Ok? Ok! Meghann released a self-titled EP earlier this year. I really love this EP because all the songs are very different, and really give you a small taste of just how much of a talented and musically diverse artist Meghann is. The first song we are going to talk about is the emotional ballad, ‘Can’t Carry Water’. This song is about the sadness and lost that comes when you realize that you can’t make someone love you. It has a very country meets indie sound, with a hint of edge (think along he lines of what it would sound like of Sara McLaughlin, Dolly Parton, and Stevie Nicks got together and created an EPIC song). I really like the metaphor that Meghann uses of comparing not being able to make this person love you, to not being able to carry water with your bare hands. My favorite thing about this song is the honesty and pain that you hear in Meghann’s voice. I really love it when you feel that an artist really put Los their whole heart and soul into a song. I would definitely suggest playing ‘Can’t Carry Water’ the next time you go through a breakup, or the next time your celebrity crush ignores you on Twitter (they’re just playing hard to get guys…that’s gotta be it right?). The next song that we’re going to talk about is her upbeat song ‘Left My Heart In Brooklyn’ (check out the official music video here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdxSLC2lrp4&list=UU30xk__9EhjipHjzfaomJYA). This song is about loving someone and telling them that no matter how you’re separated, you will always find your way back to one another. It’s a really fun take on the cliche love ballad, and will definitely be a breath of fresh air on any of your playlists. ‘Left My Heart In Brooklyn’ is a really fun indie style song that fans of bands such as Fun, the Lumineers, and Train will fall in love with. I really love the cool whistle that you hear the throughout the song, because it’s something really different that just gives the whole track a cool blues vibe. There is also a soulfulness to that song that will remind you of amazing female singer/songwriters such as Joni Mitchell and Stevie Nicks. You can purchase both of these songs on ITunes, so finish reading the blog then jump right on that (I promise your ears will thanks you!). The final song that we’re going to discuss is available on ITunes in Canada, but if you live outside Canada, you can listen to it (and lot’s of other INCREDIBLE Meghann songs) on Soundcloud. The final song that we’re going to discuss is a powerful, song called ‘Worth It’. This song is about a guy who cheats on a girl, and the girl is furious about it. I love that this song isn’t only angry, but it’s also very sassy, and doesn’t give into the stereotype of the “heartbroken, bitter, woman”. ‘Worth It’ stays with the indie sound that is at the core of all of Meghann’s songs, but adds a more prominent jazzy vibe that will make you feel cool and tough just by listening to it. This is definitely a song that I have had on repeat ever since I first heard it, and I promise that y’all will not be able to resist singing to this after just a few listen (I sense an epic sleepover singalong!).
As y’all can see Meghann is a star on the rise that you want to become obsessed with now, before everyone else does. She has already shown that she is an accomplished vocalist who shines in every genre she incorporates within her music, and an INCREDIBLE songwriter who has the unique ability of tapping into real human emotions and painting a story that we can all relate too. I am really excited about what’s ahead in Meghann’s career, because she has that special something that just captivates you and makes you want to keep listening (and trust me, after you hear just 1 of her songs, you won’t want to quit listening to her).
Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘YouTube Wednesday’ we are going to discuss an AMAZING new YouTube musician that you all need to check out. This amazingly talented guy has been posting videos on YouTube since 2007, and is definitely one of the internet’s best kept secrets. Whether you like R&B, Pop, Rock music, or anything in between, then you WILL find a song that you love on his channel. Who am I talking about? Well if the name Leroy Sanchez does not ring a bell then y’all need to get on YouTube ASAP and check out his awesome voice (well finish reading this post and then hop on over to YouTube, ok? Ok.). So let’s dive into the blog post and discuss a little bit of Leroy’s backstory, and some of his covers that I know y’all will love (hey 385,791 subscribers can’t be wrong right?). Also, please check out Leroy’s debut single ‘Little Dancer is out NOW, and his debut album is expected to drop soon so check out Leroy’s social media accounts and/or check back here to stay updated.
Leroy Sanchez grew up in Vitoria, Spain, and according to his website has always been a singer. Because of Leroy’s love for music, he decided to cultivate his teaching himself to play the guitar and sing at a very young age. Leroy steadily grew his audience, and in 2010 (3 years after he uploaded his first video), he grabbed the attention of Grammy Award winning producer Jim Jonsin (who has previously worked with, etc.). Leroy then went to Miami for a week to work with Jim, and after staying there for a few months, Leroy was signed to Jim’s Rebel Rock label (in partnership with Interscope Records). Leroy has also shown that he is not only an extremely talented artist, but also has a very giving nature, by volunteering with the organization CoachArt (which provides chronically ill children free lessons in the arts and various sports).
The first cover we’re going to talk about is the first cover on Leroy’s channel, which is a duet of ‘Breaking Free’ from High School Musical that he uploaded on January 19th, 2007. I really loved this cover because not every artist can perform a duet as well as they can sing solo, and Leroy proves early on that he can. Based off of this cover, I am VERY excited to see the other artist that Leroy could collaborate with in the future, but I’m getting ahead of myself here. I’ve heard a lot of covers of this song on YouTube ever since High School Musical first premiered, and I have to say that this is one of my favs. What I really love about this cover is that Leroy sounds AMAZING on this cover, but in the video he is very nervous and looks a bit unsure of his talent. Honestly there is something really charming about someone who is awesome and doesn’t know it. So please click here (breaking free live leroy and elena) and check out this incredible cover that you will have on repeat all day. The next cover we are going to discuss is Leroy’s cover of ‘Bleeding Love’ by Leona Lewis, which was uploaded on December 22nd, 2009. Honestly, this is an INCREDIBLY difficult song to sing because it requires being able to perform and properly control a lot of super hard notes, as well as your breathing. On top of this, you have to properly deliver the emotion behind the song, so needless to say, not everyone can do this. But Leroy does not disappoint us, and performs this song with ease. If you watch this video and compare it to his first one, you can see A LOT of improvement, which shows just how dedicated and passionate Leroy is about his craft (you can check out the awesome video right here Bleeding love by Leona Lewis (Requested song).
The next video that we’re going to talk about is Leroy’s cover (which was uploaded on February 1st, 2012) of R&B singer’s version of the song ‘I Can’t Make You Love Me’ (which was originally released by country singer Bonnie Raitt). I really enjoyed this cover because I felt like it showed just how much diversity Leroy’s voice has. Even though he did covers of R&B songs on his channel before this, ‘I Can’t Make You Love Me’ was originally a country song with blues influences, so it’s cool to see these influences in Leroy’s voice. I really love when an artist shows that they are comfortable in various genres of music, because it shows just how deep their love for music in general is, and ultimately makes their solo projects more interesting because of all of the various influences that sneak into the songs. Just like ‘Bleeding Love’, this is also another song that can’t be sung correctly if the artist does not properly connect with the emotions of the lyrics. If you haven’t checked out this cover, click here ( Can’t Make You Love Me – Bonnie Raitt (Tank’s version) by Leroy). There are a lot of other really awesome covers that y’all should check out (trust me once you get to his channel you will want to listen to all of his covers on repeat)! The finally video that we are going to discuss is Leroy’s official music video for his debut single ‘Little Dancer’ (which was uploaded on April 29th, 2014, and you can check out here Leroy Sanchez – Little Dancer). I really feel like this is a really cool debut single for Leroy because the song is an emotional ballad that has a really inspirational message about following your dreams. The song tells the story of a young girl who dreams of becoming a dancer, but allows obstacles and fear to stand in her way. I think that this is definitely a message that we can all relate to, and the video is extremely well shot. This video really makes me excited to see what other songs and videos that Leroy will release in the future! So as I’m sure y’all have already figured out, Leroy Sanchez is an artist on the rise that you don’t want to miss out on!

Hello people of the internet!!! On today’s ‘YouTube Wednesday’ blog we are going to discuss a rising country music star that you will completely fall in love with (if you haven’t already). With a unique vocal tone that will win favor with fans of modern and classic country, SaraBeth is definitely an artist on the rise that you should all keep an eye on. So if you want to be one of the first to learn all about this upcoming star now (or if you already love her and just want to learn more) then please read on. I promise you will become completely obsessed with her music.
SaraBeth is a country music singer/songwriter who was born Dallas, TX. Her music videos have been played in the music TV channels ‘GAC’ & ‘ZUUS’, and became the only top independent trending artist on CMT.com. She has also had the opportunity of sharing the stage with big names in country music, such as: Craig Morgan, Brantley Gilbert, Lonestar, and X-Factor Season 2 winner Tate Stevens. She had also participated in both the 2013 and 2014 City of Hope Celebrity Softball Challenge alongside country music artists Florida Georgia Line, Brett Eldredge and more. She has also appeared on a multitude of television shows including: Good Day Dallas, D The Broadcast (Dallas), Fox 26 Morning News (Houston), Great Day SA (San Antonio), More at Midday (Nashville), Tennessee Mornings (Nashville) and nationally syndicated radio show, The Bobby Bones Show, She released her first single ‘Under the Mistletoe’ to ITunes on November 8th, 2012, which is a fun, Christmas themed song that we will discuss later in the blog post. She later made a powerful debut with the release of her debut LP, ‘Anything Is Possible’, which was released to iTunes on October 29th, 2013. This album certainly proved just how talented SaraBeth is as an entertainer, and each song on the album could easily become a hit on country music radio. She released her sophomore project (an EP entitled ‘Kickin and Screamin’) on September 17th, 2012. This EP not only continued to show off SaraBeth’s growth as an artist, but also proved that her artistry extending into songwriting (a very important skill for an entertainer to have). On August 5th, 2014 SaraBeth released her latest EP ‘Obsessive’ to ITunes. This EP has already received numerous positive reviews on iTunes due to the energetically spunky songs that can be found on it. This EP definitely shows that SaraBeth is more than ready to take the world by storm and take her rightful place among the elite in country music. According to SaraBeth’s website, success runs in her family. She has stated, “My younger brother was drafted to play pro baseball for the Cardinals, my dad recently wrote a book on motivation and inspires people all over the world, and my mom is the glue that holds us all together. With all these incredibly successful and driven role models in my life, I thought, how can I NOT go after this dream?”. Talk about a talented family!
SaraBeth uploaded her first cover video (a cover of ‘Downtown’ by Lady Antebellum Downtown (Lady Antebellum Cover) [Living Room Sessions] – SaraBeth – YouTube) on May 14th, 2013. I really loved this cover because it was a fun choice that really showed off SaraBeth’s vocal abilities. She is immediately able to capture your attention, and this video also proves that SaraBeth sounds just as good live, as she does recorded (which admittedly is not a talent that every artist possess). I thought that this cover was a great introduction to SaraBeth’s music, and definitely left me wanting hear more. The next cover that we are going to discuss is SaraBeth’s cover of the Carrie Underwood hit ‘Blown Away’ (Blown Away – Acoustic (Carrie Underwood cover) – SaraBeth – YouTube). First of all, I have to commend SaraBeth for covering this song, because it is a ridiculously difficult song to cover. The notes in the song are very difficult to hit, and there is an extreme amount of technique and emotional depth that must be mastered in order to perform this song correctly. SaraBeth does a phenomenal job with this cover, and the fact that she performs it live just further proves that she is an extremely talented vocalist. I promise that once you listen to this cover, you will absolutely fall in love with her voice. The final cover that we are going to discuss is SaraBeth’s ‘Covers Medley’ (Covers Medley – YouTube), which was uploaded to YouTube on February 26th, 2014. However, the actual performance was given on the opening night of the Lonestar tour in Scottsdale, AZ a little bit earlier in 2014. The medley consisted of a diverse list of country music hits, which included: ‘Done’ by The Band Perry, ‘I Want Crazy’ by Hunter Hayes, ‘Friday Night’ by Eric Paslay, and ‘Wagon Wheel’ originally released by the band Old Crow Medicine Show (but was rewritten from an unfinished song that was demoed by Bob Dylan but never officially released). The song was popularized again in 2013 by Darius Ruckner who included a version of this song (with backup vocals provided by country trio Lady Antebellum) on his 2013 album ‘True Believers’. I really enjoyed this cover because we got to see SaraBeth performing in a concert setting, and the crowd really seemed to get into her performance. The song choices were also really well thought out, because the songs are current hits that a lot of people recognize, and they showed off SaraBeth’s fun personality and natural charisma on stage. This video definitely further impressed me.
Now that we’ve discussed SaraBeth’s cover videos, let’s dive into her original music. The first single we are going to discuss is her video for her single ‘Under the Mistletoe’ (Under the Mistletoe (Official Video) – SaraBeth – YouTube). The song is a very fun, upbeat track that definitely puts me in the Christmas spirit. I really like that the song is Christmas themed, but it is also a fun song to listen to all year. The video is also really funny, because SaraBeth has various people dressed up in giant Gingerbread, Santa, and various other costumes. I don’t want to ruin the rest of the video for you, but it is certainly not your typical Christmas themed video (which is one of the elements that makes this video so amazing and fun to watch over and over again…trust me; you will watch it over and over again). The next video we are going to discuss, is SaraBeth’s official music video for her song ‘Kickin’ and Screamin’ (Kickin’ and Screamin’ (Official Video) – SaraBeth – YouTube). I really like the song because it is a very fun song that is perfect to listen to in the car or at a party. The lyrics are very catchy and easy to learn, and you will definitely have this song on repeat the second you hear it. I really enjoyed the music video for this song because it’s not your typical music video. The setting is different, and although the video does contain “trucks” (which we all know is standard in a lot of country music videos and songs), the trucks in the video are not the type that first come to mind. I don’t want to spoil the rest of the video, but I highly suggest that you all check out this video, because the hard work that was required to make it certainly shows. The final video that we are going to discuss, is SaraBeth’s official lyric video for her song ‘Those Memories’ (“Those Memories” – Official Lyric Video – YouTube). I chose this video, because by now we all know that SaraBeth is able to deliver a fun, high energy performance that will get you dancing, but I wanted you all to see that she is also able to tug at your heartstrings. I really loved ‘Those Memories’ because it was a very sweet song that really showed off SaraBeth’s ability to emotionally connect with a song (which is a VERY important skill for an artist to have). The video is very sweet, and has a slideshow of photos of SaraBeth as a baby, child, and teenager. I really love it when an artist is able to be vulnerable and honest with their fans, and this is exactly what SaraBeth does in this video.
See, I told you that you would become obsessed! With a career that would make a lot of musicians jealous, it is obvious that Nashville (the hub of all country music greatness) as certainly taken notice of this rising talent. With the large numbers of talented hopefuls that often travel in and out of the city, it is no small feat to garner the type of attention that SaraBeth has been able to achieve. It is obvious that she is just a few steps away from becoming the newest country music phenomenon to burst onto the scene.
Keep up to date with all the awesome things that SaraBeth is up to!!!
